FADE IN:
INT. STUDY - DAY
Sitting behind his desk with a computer on it, Peter ponders.
PETER (V.O.)
Coming back from KL, I feel
free... emotionally...free as
a bird.
A beat.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I've witnessed negative
emotions of aging, ailing
and dying. I've tried to
handle them compassionately.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Although I say this, I've absorbed
some negativity...I feel I've lost
my cool...
A phone notification. Peter checks it.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
My sister's 2019 chicken soup
for the mind...How timely! Yes,
reach out for something...
Peter packs his swimming gear.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
Walking at a brisk pace, Peter remembers something.
FLASHBACK
EXT. ROAD - DAY
Peter walks briskly with OLD MAN#1 (80s). The old man checks a device.
PETER
What's that? A pager?
OLD MAN#1
No. It's a step tracker. I've
to do 7000 steps daily.
INT. RESTAURANT - DAY
Peter chats with a GROUP.
PETER
To nurture longevity, do
you know what activity
you've to do 10,000 times
a day?
The group thinks.
GROUP MEMBER
Walk 10,000 steps?
Peter nods.
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
Smart phones in hands, Peter chats with OLD MAN#2 (80s).
PETER
My Mum lives alone. I bought
this smart phone - the same
model I bought my Mum so
that I could teach her how to
use it and get help.
Old man#2 nods. He then touches an App icon with a heart device. It reads: "Steps: 392" and Peter sees it.
PETER (V.O.)
(Compassionately)
He was as tough as iron even
when he was in his 70s.
END FLASHBACK
Peter finds the App icon with the heart device in his phone. He touches it. It reads "Steps: 8125".
PETER (V.O.)
This's my first time checking
it... I now realize that it's a
blessing that I can make those
steps, briskly.
Peter continues his brisk walking.
INT. POOL ENTRANCE - DAY
Concessionary gates with keepers nearby. As Peter taps a smart card over a reader, he has his identity card in hand, ready for inspection. Having casually looked at Peter from a distance, nobody approach him.
PETER (V.O.)
Nobody doubt my seniority
now. Okay, I come to add
years to my life!
INT. LIBRARY - DAY
A ring tone breaks the silence. Peter takes out his phone, checks the caller and exits as he chooses to answer it.
PETER
Pro bono work? No problem,
I'll do it!
INT. STUDY - DAY
Peter works on his computer and watches TV occasionally. A phone rings. Peter takes the call.
CALLER (O.S.)
(From phone)
Peter! Back in Hong Kong?
Can you give me a pro bono
opinion?
PETER
Yes! No problem!
A beat.
Using his mobile devices, Peter researches.
A beat.
Peter sends hyperlinks to an addressee. We see him typing "...In my opinion..."
PETER (V.O.)
That's how I believe I can add
life to my years.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
As the iron in me is still hot,
I had better continue to make
it hot and sharpen it further.
Hand on cheek, Peter looks dreamy.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I'll spread my iron wings and
learn to fly away from any
negative emotion and feelings.
I'll reclaim my positive stance
and treat myself lovingly!
FADE OUT. The End
