Kaji: Stupid Is As Stupid Does

FADE IN:

INT. SLEEPING ROOM - DAY

In bed. KAJI (2) wakes up, her pack LEADER is still fast asleep and a gang MEMBER sits upright, checking his smart phone. A digital clock displays 10:38.

Kaji, jumping out of bed and wandering around, stares depressingly at the waking member.

KAJI (V.O.)

I'm hungry. Why didn't you

have your breakfast and share

that with me?

Kaji looks at the quiet corridor.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd)

My maid has gone out too...

She didn't serve me my 10:00

meal!

The gang member appears to get her message.

MEMBER

Darling, our little daughter is

hungry!

The pack leader rolls over and gets out of bed. Kaji follows her to the sitting room.

A beat.

Both return to bed. Kaji looks contented.

MEMBER

Has she eaten already?

LEADER

Yes.

The pack leader sleeps again.

KAJI (V.O.)

I've nothing... except my head

space and smiling mind...

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd)

And if I am given other things,

I won't just keep it; I'd do with

it, particularly eating it .

INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY

Having shown Kaji a big bone, the pack leader puts it far away. Kaji begins to lick her lips tirelessly.

LEADER

Sit!

Kaji sits, restlessly.

LEADER

Down!

Kaji lies down awkwardly, eyeing at the big bone.

The pack leader claps her hands. Kaji jumps up swiftly to the hands, more excited than ever.

The pack leader then puts the big bone within Kaji's reach.

. LEADER

Not yet okay ah....

Staying put, Kaji stares at the big bone earnestly.

LEADER

OK!

Kaji gets the big bone in no time. She retreats to a spot.

KAJI (V.O.)

At last...after all this hustle and

bustle.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd)

This bone is big. I can't swallow it. It isn't raw either, I can't taste any

marrow.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Not sure if my teeth are stronger

than the bone if I chew it..Since

I've it, I'll do with it. Perhaps, I'll

just play with it..

As the pack leader watches her playing, the gang member captures a moment of Kaji.

A beat.

The pack leader talks to Kaji who still has the big bone in her mouth.

LEADER

Give it back to me...

Kaji would not let go.

KAJI (V.O.)

Although I've only one stupid

big bone, I'd make the most of

it...

LEADER

(Begging)

Give it back to me...good girl.

KAJI (V.O.)

You've so many things, but

you don't do with them.Stupid

is as stupid does.

A beat.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd)

I'm prepared to let go, assuming

you've learned now to do with

the things you've!

Kaji releases her bite. The pack leader repossesses the bone. Kaji looks easy.
