FADE IN:
INT. CLASS ROOM - DAY
Carrying two guitars, PETER in performer's outfit arrives. He then takes out his electric Gibson Futura SG. A LADY (50s) approaches him.
LADY
I like the green colour of your
guitar.
Peter nods and plays fingerstyle guitar.
PETER'S SPEAKING AND PERFORMING MONTAGE
A/ An MC introduces Peter.
B/ Peter's speaks with visual aides and power points.
C/ Peter finishes and a round of applause follows.
D/ Peter then sings his songs, initial ones are raw.
E/ After warming up, his songs sound like music to people's ears.
END MONTAGE
A tea reception begins. A GENTLEMAN (30s) approaches Peter.
GENTLEMAN
You said you published daily
blog posts. What drives you?
How to create a daily theme?
PETER
There're people following my publications...
GENTLEMAN
You don't want to disappoint
them...
PETER
Even if nobody follows my
my stuff now, I'd still do it
as I'm aggregating my works.
Furthermore, I enjoy the
creative process.
The gentleman nods.
PETER (Cont'd)
My objective is to publish
a post before midnight...
GENTLEMAN
So you put pressure on
yourself.
PETER(Cont'd)
With pressure, I derive
energy and creativity.
FLASHBACK
INT. MUSIC INSTRUMENT STORE - DAY (2015)
Peter watches an array of Gibson guitars.
PETER (V.O.)
I like the green Futura SG,
It has the inventive E-tune.
That's a differentiator.
Peter buys the green Futura SG happily.
INT. STUDY - DAY (YESTERDAY)
Peter is surrounded by electric and acoustic guitars, cables and guitar amplifiers.
PETER (V.O.)
Which guitar should I bring?
Peter opens a Gibson guitar case.
PETER (V,O.) (Cont'd)
I seldom play the Futura SG
as I haven't bothered to
learn the e-tuning.
Peter checks the E-tune device and presses a button. No light.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
The battery is dead now.
Having done the manual tuning, Peter plays it.
PETER (V.O.)
It sounds good. I'll take this
and the newly acquired Fender
acoustics as a spare.
Putting the Futura SG back inside the case, Peter notices something inside a small inner box. He examines it.
PETER (V.O.)
It's a charger. I see! The
E-tune battery is rechargeable!
A beat.
Having inserted the battery back into the E-tune slot and pressed the menu button, Peter sees lights. As he strikes on each guitar string, the device responses automatically. Peter then strums and we hear harmony.
PETER (V.O.)
It's easy!
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.)
Creativity is the same.
It's easy if you try.
The gentleman digests the message.
PETER (Cont'd)
I won't leave it till tomorrow.
I don't know if I rise again...
an old man now...
(Smiling)
I don't want my children and
grandchildren receiving less
royalties.
The gentleman chuckles.
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
Still in his performer's outfit, Peter sits behind his computer.
PETER (V.O,)
What should be the theme
of my blog post today? The
exchange about "how to
create a daily theme" lingers
in my mind. Okay, let this
be the theme.
Having typed a few lines, Peter pauses.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I recall the colour term of
my Futura SG isn't just
called "green"...
Peter researches with his phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Oh yes, the shade of green
is called "Inverness green".
Pausing.
PETER (V.O,) (Cont'd)
I've been to Inverness...
But that's another story...
