FADE IN:
INT. SLEEPING ROOM - DAY
A table clock registers 10:30. PETER and his WIFE gets out of
bed.
PETER
What's your plan for
today?
WIFE
I think I should work
at home, saving the
travelling time to and
from the office. We'll
just have a simple
breakfast at home.
Peter nods.
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
As PETER finishes some noodles and Chinese cakes, Peter's WIFE cleans the table.
WIFE
I'm having my cup of tea.
Would you like one?
PETER
(Considering)
Why not? I had tea for the
past couple of days and
I slept well.
Peter's wife makes two cups of tea and serve them on the table. Peter begins to sip his.
WIFE
It's hot!
PETER
(Nodding)
It's green and nice!
Where did you get
it?
WIFE
We bought it at the
headquarter of
Nakamura Tokichi at
Nara...
Peter tries to remember.
WIFE
Not on the last occasion.
But the one before that...
Remember we didn't
bother to wait to eat in
and bought something
instead.
Peter nods.
PETER
Oh, yes, I remember.
PETER (V.0.)
Nearly two years have
lapsed. And we're having
our cups of tea for the
first time...
PETER (Cont'd)
When shall we go to
Japan together again?
How about this summer?
WIFE
It may still be difficult
for me to take leave.
See how it goes.
Peter's wife checks an incoming phone message.
WIFE
My Singapore contact
asked if today is a working
day in Hong Kong?
Peter researches.
PETER
I see, the third day of the
Chinese New Year isn't
a public holiday in
Singapore. In terms of
the number of public
holidays, Hong Kong
beats Singapore, haha!
Peter checks a notification.
PETER
Another friend wishes me
having new stuff in the
New Year.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)
I've been wondering how
others' hope would impact
on my life and work. If I'm
not prepared to do anything
myself, would their best
wishes come true?
Pausing.
PETER(V.O.) (Cont'd) Having got others'
optimistic words, should I
adjust myself psychologically,
make myself efficacious and
direct myself to achieve
important life outcomes?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
It's really our determination
actions that will make things
happen. In the days ahead,
I' d continue to be creative,
enjoying myself as well as
entertaining others.
Pausing.
PETER(V.O.) (Cont'd)
To express my ideas and
feelings in new media is
something that I'd like
to do more upon
retirement. I'm actually
doing it now.
Pausing.
PETER(V.O.) (Cont'd)
Creative cultural expressions
aside, I'm optimistic that
my professional practice
will get better and better.
As to recreation...
Peter checks his phone's image, depicting a Boarding Pass QR code.
PETER(V.O.) (Cont'd)
Yes, I'm flying out tomorrow...
Another solo travel...
Pausing.
PETER(V.O.) (Cont'd)
I should like to travel
more with my wife...
It always seems
improbable until it's
done.
Peter takes a snapshot of their cups of tea.
PETER(V.O.) (Cont'd)
Meanwhile, don't waste time, let's be happy with this rare moment! Our cups of
tea are life-enhancing!
Peter and his wife refill their cups.
FADE OUT.
The End
