FADE IN:
INT. CLUB HOUSE - DAY
Leisurely, PETER reads newspapers.
PETER (V.O.)
Yes, Greater Bay Area, now-
or-never opportunities...
Peter follows a column and looks disturbed.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Here's a cynical remark:
..."declaring this is what
you want to be..."
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
As proven in the last
few decades, China's
State-planned cum
liberal market economy
works.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd)
In investing in something
new in China, some private
equity investors' first query
is whether the business
concept has Government
policy support.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
China has outlined its
vision - what it wants
the Greater Bay Area to
be in the future.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Another Chinese characteristic
is quick actions. Vision
with actions isn't wishful
thinking!
FLASHBACK
INT. HOSPITAL ROOM - DAY
Peter and a FRIEND (60s) look at a pale, unresponsive and motionless body in bed.
PETER
Accept the loss. Refresh
yourself. And move on.
That was how I dealt
with mine many years
ago.
The friend hears what Peter says but doesn't know how to react.
INT. HOTEL RESTAURANT - DAY
Peter and his WIFE arrive at a table. The friend introduces his pretty GIRLFRIEND (50s) to them. They chat happily.
INT. WEDDING PARTY - DAY
In the presence of GUESTS, the friend and his girlfriend tie the knot.
CELEBRANT
(Jokingly)
...signing your life away...
Wedding luncheon is about ready. The newly-wedded HUSBAND and WIFE stand at the podium.
HUSBAND
... I've to thank our match-
maker...
The female MATCHMAKER (50s) stands up to acknowledge the honourable mention. Applause.
WIFE
... I've to thank our match-
maker...
PETER (V.O.)
Good action on the part of
matchmaker! And they've
the courage to try and then
the commitment to do. And
the declarations are made
in public and recognized by
law!
The matchmaker stands up again. Another round of applause.
RETURN TO PRESENT
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
Sitting behind his computer, Peter thinks and types intermittently.
PETER (V.O.)
Actions without goals can be
a nightmare, like my hoarding
habits.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
On the other hand, for the
reviews and photos that I
posted on Google, they
accumulated millions of
views. I gain a lot of
satisfaction as my goal
is to share and help others.
Pausing.
PETER(V.O.) (Cont'd)
When I began 20 months
ago, I didn't know I can
achieve that much impact.
But once I committed to
taking the smallest first
step, it turns out being
one of the biggest steps
of my life!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I believe the same also
applies to the Greater Bay
Area vision. Let's all take
our smallest first steps!
FADE OUT. The End
