FADE IN:
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
Smart phone in hand, PETER is checking something. His WIFE is discussing with their younger DAUGHTER.
DAUGHTER
I've to be at the MTR station
by 08:55.
WIFE
Ask Dad to drive you up.
Having checked the table clock, Peter gets to the door.
PETER
(To Daughter)
Wait for me at the passing
place downstairs.
EXT. PASSING PLACE - DAY
Daughter gets on board Peter's car.
PETER (V.O.)
If you take a risk to wake
a little late, you've to make
a calculated move, ie
asking me to drive you to
squeeze the time.
EXT. ESTATE EXIT - DAY
There's a car queue, around 10 cars before Peter's.
PETER (V.O.)
For every move we take,
there's a calculated risk
eg would there be a
traffic jam?
The cars including Peter's exit swiftly.
EXT. MTR STATION - DAY
As daughter gets off, the car clock displays 08:53.
PETER (V.O.)
Job done!
EXT. POOLSIDE - DAY
Peter stands on his toes, stretching his hands and legs.
PETER (V.O.)
It's my morning routine
to do 70 push-ups. I only
began to do that regularly
after retirement.
FLASHBACK
EXT. SWIMMING POOL - DAY
Three women (30s) in casual wear sit by the poolside. Peter walks towards a beach chair near them to deposit his bag. He notices the women eyeing his body shape.
PETER (V.O.)
As a reasonably healthy
senior citizen who can do
some butterfly strokes, I
feel proud!
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Before I turned 60, my
life has been work-eat-
sleep, and repeat. Now,
I do what I want to do,
most of the time.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I believe my discipline,
practice or rule impact
on my biological and
physical development.
The proteins or life in
me, would do better,
contributing to human
evolution.
INT. CLUB HOUSE - DAY
Still wet-haired, Peter reads newspapers.
PETER (V.O.)
Two separate protests
by opposing political
camps are coming up.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O)(Cont'd)
The camps must have
calculated the risks before
making the move. Before
joining the protests, people should calculate the risk.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Participants are answerable,
and responsible for their
moral, political and legal
consequences, whether
intended or unintended.
INT. STUDY - DAY
Peter works behind his computer.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
My wife and I have struggled
hard to become what we're.
I believe our independent
thinking has been coded in
our genes and also in our
children's.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd) I We've never been enslaved
by other men and women or
institutions in politics. We're
the masters of our own
fates!
