FADE IN:
INT. SLEEPING ROOM - DAY
Scrolling up his phone screen, PETER is reading his phone emails.
PETER (V.O.)
See if I won't miss any
appointment today.
We see a mail from Google Maps with the caption: Your photo is making a difference.
Peter taps the mail and the feature photo of this blog post appears. On top of the photo is : Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal and the date 21/02/19; and at the bottom: Hi Peter Kam Fai, 400,000 views!
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
OMG, so many views!
I've nearly forgotten
taking this photo at the
Terminal.
Peter looks at the photo.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
It was my first time there.
When compared with
the temporary one, it was
grand, but under-utilized
for the time being.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I ensured the shot would
look symmetrical. I waited
for others to pass by so
that the near view was
clear. I did exercise my
labour, skill and judgment
to create the work.
Peter reads on: This photo has helped people over 400,000 times. Thanks for adding such a great shot to Google Maps.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I did mean to help. But
it's beyond my imagination
that this photo could have
helped people over 400,000
times in just half a year.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
But if I haven't heard or
seen of the Taipa Ferry
Terminal before, a photo
would give me some
ideas as to what to expect.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd) I don't know any of the
viewers...They're just
too many for me to
know anyway!
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
In his phone QUORA App, Peter scrolls down the screen.
PETER (V.O.)
Today's already Aug 21st
and I'm still answering
questions put to me
on Aug 13th. The next
question on my waiting
list is...
We see the question:
Why aren't there protests in Macau?
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Let me update myself -
is it true that there aren't
protests in Macau?
Peter surfs the web.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Oh they wanted to stir
up trouble in Macau as
well...But the Police
wouldn't tolerate that.
Peter types his answer:
Assimilation. Macau's Chinese assimilation is easier eg like China, it practises the continental legal system.
Adaptation. Macau Chinese adapt well and are smart enough to take a no-nonsense approach in politics.
Governance. Those in authority in Macau know what the Macau Chinese want and deliver accordingly.
Governed. The governed are content with the situations they are in and have no grievances.
Well-behaving. Macau as the younger brother is always well behaved than his spoiled elder, Hong Kong.
Action. In a recent rally to support Hong Kong's protests in Macau, the Police detained seven people.
Peter then keys: "Submit".
INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT
While having dinner, Peter checks his Quora App.
PETER (V.O.)
From my small data, I
can see that Hong Kong
aside, the world cares
about Macau too.
Pondering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Could my photo inspire
viewers to imagine how
the Terminal might look
like if it is filled with tens
of thousands of ...
Peter sighs.
FADE OUT. The End
