FADE IN.
INT. SLEEPING ROOM - DAY
Reluctantly, PETER and his WIFE wake up.
PETER (V.O.)
I've to drive my wife to
the pier and she'll take
a ferry to court. We've
to be adaptive to
the change. This is
a common trait among
Hongkongers - one
measure of intelligence.
FLASHBACK
INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT
WIFE
Are you free on Nov 19?
PETER
I've to see a client in the
afternoon.
WIFE
Then, you drive me to
court that morning.
PETER
But we might be delayed
on our way. I tried the
ferry last time.
His wife looks uneasy.
PETER (Cont'd)
I know you've never
tried that. Let's take
a Saturday ride to
see if it's fine. OK?
EXT. FERRY - DAY
Sitting in an upper-deck corner, Peter, his wife and KAJI, their pet, enjoy the breeze and the harbour veiw.
PETER
Not bad right?
His wife nods.
END FLASHBACK
EXT. FERRY PIER - DAY
Peter and his wife arrives in their car. They see a short passenger queue.
PETER You may wait inside
the car until the ferry
arrives.
A beat. His wife gets on board.
EXT. CAR PARK - DAY
Checking his phone, Peter sees a photo of a Chinese-style breakfast and a message says: the queue on this side is long.
PETER (V.O.)
Good for the operator.
We've also become
its new customers.
Rioters can disrupt
land transport with
relative ease, but
not the sea.
Peter types: Now, you'd agree this is the an enjoyable way to go to work? He then receives a thumb-up sign.
EXT. MTR STATION - DAY
Peter enters.
PETER (V.O.)
Good, it's open. One
hurdle less.
EXT. MINI-BUS STOP - DAY
A green bus is waiting.
PETER (V.O.)
No problem too.
EXT. PRISON VICINITY - DAY
Peter gets off the green bus.
PETER (V.O.)
I'm very early, as
there's no traffic
disruption along
my way.
Peter walks around.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I just use my time
to do something
that I wouldn't
do eg exploring if
it's viable to park
nearby.
After passing through a few parking lots, Peter sees an empty pavilion with a nice view and steps inside.
Checking his Quora app, Peter sees many notifications that request his answer.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
The community is
very interested about
the Hong Kong riot
development.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
The masked people
disrupt the traffic
system to satisfy their
own idiosyncrasy.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
The government is
incompetent to govern,
emboldening them as
if they're above the
law.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Some do get caught
and soon they'll be
behind bars. Meanwhile,
the public have to
suffer.
Peter takes a photo of the hills in a distance.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd)
Not just that I rearrange
my priorities. I've also
learned the protesting/
rioting aspect of social
science and responded
to over 400 questions
in the past few months.
Peter taps the app's content.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Wow, I've got so many
upvotes on this answer.
That might evidence
another measure of
intelligence.
INT. PRISON - DAY
Visitor waiting room. Very crowded. Peter is among the visitors.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Rioters entrench their
political fear and desire.
Not all will change on
their own. Correctional
services are in great
demand in Hong Kong!
Peter passes a security clearance and enters an interview room.
FADE OUT. The End
