FADE IN.

INT. SLEEPING ROOM - DAY

In bed, PETER is in thoughts as his WIFE is waking up.

PETER (V.O.)

Today is Saturday - day

2 of my follow-up actions.

Let me see what I can

do.

WIFE

You've already got your

driving licence yesterday,

right?

PETER

Yes.

WIFE

You can drive me to attend

a medical appointment.

PETER

No problem...Oh yes, I've

lost one of my car park

access cards and have

to reapply.

INT. ESTATE OFFICE - DAY

A STAFF (20s) is receiving Peter.

PETER

I've lost one of my car

park access cards and

want to get a new one.

STAFF

(Curious)

Access cards?

PETER

Yes. I own several parking

lots here. Let me show

you those cards that are

still with me. You can

check against the records

to help me find out which

one I've lost.

Peter shows the staff several photos of cards. The staff checks the records.

STAFF

I know which one you've

lost. Okay, $50. You can

have your new one before

the close of play today.

PETER

(Smiling)

Good! So efficient.

INT. CAR PARK - DAY

Approaching a numeric blue SMART car, Peter presses a remote control. No sound, no light.

PETER (V.O.)

Not unexpected. As

my little use of the car

has made the battery

dead.

Pausing.

PETER (V.O.)

I've also lost the entry

card of my car park on

the Hong Kong side

too...

INT. STUDY - DAY

Holding a phone, Peter is speaking to someone.

PETER

(To phone)

So I must come in

person during your

office hours to apply

for a new card?

SOMEONE

(From phone)

Correct...

PETER (V.O.)

At least I know I can't

do it via the security

office outside office

hours.

INT. CAR PARK - DAY

Inside the SMART car, Peter connects the jump-starter cables with the battery terminals. Then he switches the key and we hear engine cranking sounds and then engine sounds.

PETER (V.O.)

Done! Let me go to

the car battery store

to buy a new battery

right away!

EXT. ROAD - DAY

Pedestrian crossing. Peter stops the car. ADULTS and KIDS are staring his car.

ADULT#1

What a beautiful car!

With a big smile, Peter waves at them as he drives away.

PETER (V.O.)

That's why I bought it

in 2003 and have been

keeping it. But I didn't

know it still looks good

after so many years!

EXT. CAR BATTERY STORE - DAY

A MECHANIC (64) is installing a new battery in the SMART car.

A beat.

MECHANIC

Done!

PETER

Thank you.

The mechanic than looks around the car.

MECHANIC

It looks like a new

car.

PETER (V.O.)

The new battery renews

its life!

INT. SECURITY OFFICE - DAY

Coming out with a new card in hand, Peter looks happy.

PETER (V.O.)

But I've got to check

if the codes are OK

and whether the ingress

and egress sequences

are in order.

INT. CAR PARK - NIGHT

As he stops the smart car at the gate, Peter swipes the car park entry card and presses a few keys on a gate device. We see the gate bar begins to lift up.

PETER (V.O.)

Great! The new card

works like the lost one.

Have made a U turn, Peter drives the car back to the car park.

After parking the car, Peter places the car park access card at the dash board and takes a photo.

PETER (V.O.)

Let my happy experience

be the contents of my

short-film screenplay

today. Yes, Cards Story 2.

Peter smiles.

FADE OUT. The End
