FADE IN.
INT. MALL - DAY
PETER and his WIFE come out of a restaurant.
WIFE: I'm going to Fusion. You do what you want to do.
PETER (V.O.): (Nodding) : Let me first check if my sports dar of 30 years is still alright.
INT. CAR PARK - DAY
Sitting inside a red sports car, Peter starts the engine.
PETER (V.O.): The last time I drove it, I couldn't shift the stick to 1st gear at all. I started with 2nd gear. After shifting the gears several times, I could shift to 1st gear again. I believe it was because I seldom drive it.
Stepping on the clutch, Peter shifts the stick to 1st gear.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's Okay.
Having moved for about a foot, Peter stops the car and shifts the stick to reverse. The car goes back a little. Peter repeats the process again.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): OK, the gear-shifting problem has gone away. There's nothing to fix.
Taking out a screwdriver from the car's central console box, Peter uncovers the car's four wheels' central covers one by one.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I know the car-testing mechanics prefer that. Now, the car and I are good to go.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
As he drives along, we see quite a number of people can't get their eyes over Peter's car and there're several others who turn their heads.
INT - CAR TESTING CENTRE - DAY
Seeing him and his car arriving, a MECHANIC#1 (40s) chats with Peter.
MECHANIC#1 (Smiling): Classic!
PETER (Smiling): It has been with me for over 30 years!
MECHANIC: Yes, I was then an apprentice.
Waiting room. Peter enjoys a cup of coffee as he reads a car magazine.
PETER (V.O.): I've to update my car knowledge as my son is going to buy a car anytime soon.
Turning the pages, Peter is attracted to an insert. depicting a Nissan Fairlady in the 1970s.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I seriously thought about buying a used one in the 1970s. I didn't buy it as it was a Japanese two-seater. Then, I preferred an European 2+2 coupe.
Peter reads the small prints of an article.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd) (Shocked): Oh, the car was sold at HK$6.2 million in a recent auction in Japan - more expensive
than Italian ones. And the Japanese take great pride that it was a Japanese car.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): (Dreamy eyes): Mine was in the 1980s... It might become another collectors' item. But would I let it go?
MECHANIC#2 (30s) then approaches Peter and passes him some papers.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Again, my sports car of 30 years is fine.
Peter takes a photo of his sports car before driving away.
INT. CAR PARK - DAY
Having parked the car, Peter re-fixes the central wheel covers.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My car model hasn't been available in the market for many years already. If I do what I want to do, I'd continue to keep it. It's my lover!
As he walks away, Peter turns around to look at his sports car again.
FADE OUT.
The End
