A lively bistro. DORA hosts a lunch for Peter.
PETER: You're my only friend who would host a birthday lunch for me...
DORA: We're old friends - not literarally old, but we've been friends for a very long time.
Then, the dessert arrives. A white plate is placed before Peter. On it sits a single cut of cake with a single lit birthday candle flickering. Around the edge of the plate, written in chocolate sauce: Happy Birthday, Peter.
We see and hear a TEAM singing cheerfully: Happy Birthday to you...Peter looks overwhelmed.
PETER (V.O.): Dora is so meticulous to arrange this for me.
PETER: Thank you Dora. Thank you all. Appreciated.
PETER (V..O.): But I don't take any birthday anniversaries for granted anymore. Not at 72.
Act 3

The bay curves quietly. A small patch of sand away from the city. Peter lies flat on a floating platform, humming the tune: The Girl from Ipanema.
PETER (V.O.): Birthday anniversaries are for cake. The hours after are for swimming and practising the piano.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Before my "birthday" trip, I can play pretty well on piano the song: The Girl from Ipanema. But now, I've forgotten the bosa nova chords...72 (And Still Learning).
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At 72, the lessons are smaller but deeper. I know now that grief must be learned anew each time. Joy is a skill that rusts without use.
