Act 1
EXT. PARK - MORNING
PETER in a dark suit walks past WOMEN doing their morning exercises.
PETER (V.O.): When I didn't work in retirement, I spent time here, getting inspirations to write songs.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In less than an hour, I'll be prosecuting.
INT. PROSECUTION OFFICE - 08:45
Peter scrutinizes a pile of files.
PETER (V.O.): I now have an idea what I'm going to do today.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.(Cont'd): I focus on matters I can control. Today should be a good day.
Act 2
INT. COURTS - 09:20
An ASSISTANT escorts Peter to court room#1. Seats at the bar table are occupied.
PETER: Is this the Judge's court?
His assistant observes the PERSONNEL present..
ASSISTANT: Oh no! We've gone to the wrong court!
PETER (V.O.): I suspect that. As she works here, I left the matter to her.
Exiting, they bump into a liaison OFFICER. Peter says: Hi.
PETER (V.O.): Last week, we worked as a team. defending.
As they enter the crowded court room#2, it's 09:29.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We aren't late yet.
SEQUENCE OF PETER'S COURT APPEARANCE
A. Peter applies to adjourn case#1 with supporting reasons.
B. In case#2, Peter seeks and gets approval to amend a charge.
C Peter asks for plea be taken in case#3 and the defendant pleads guilty.
D. In case#4, upon the defendant's conviction. Peter discloses the criminal records.
E. Peter objects bail application in case#5 and the defendant is remanded.
F. Peter proposes to deal with case#6 via a bound-over order.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Peter jots down the JUDGE's final order before rising.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was here last week, I was shocked that exchanges weren't loud and clear.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): People in court are separated by the Covid-19 containment partitions. And people speak with our masks on.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was glad to hear the Judge asking a young counsel to speak louder and another to keep focus.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As I listened and focused hard already, I only needed to guess one or two of the interventions.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Such an experience can only be learned on-the-job!
INT. RESTAURANT - AFTERNOON
Enjoying Escargots in Garlic and Parsley Butter, Peter types on his mobile.
PETER (V.O.): Today is my younger's son's birthday. I've pre-celebrated with him in my usual way, when he was still in town.
On his phone screen, we see Peter sharing the link of his "Happy Birthday" song.
INT. OFFICE - LATER
Apparently reading texts on a computer screen, Peter is actually following a discussion between an OFFICER and a young COUNSEL nearby.
PETER (V.O.): The counsel is embarrassed, as he could have done a better job. I picked up the nitty-gritty not too long ago!
Act 3
INT. MALL - LATER
At the cashier, Peter is paying HK$30 for 3 phone screen protectors.
PETER (V.O.): Having done my brief today, I'd buy myself something nice - bargain stuff that worth more to me.
EXT. PARK - EVENING
Appearing, Peter takes a shot.
PETER (V.O.): What a beautiful sunny day!
Peter retraces his morning footsteps.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Everyday, there's always something to learn, care and celebrate.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Everyday is a good day.
