Blue and white human pictograms begin to appear on TV.
PETER: There's life in kinetic pictograms. Really creative and smart!
WIFE: They steal the show.
PETER (V.O.): The performance may inspire our younger daughter to think outside the box of animation art.
The family hears a remark from TV: Pictograms were first introduced in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. They were meant to communicate effectively, overcoming the language barriers.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 1964, I was studying in Primary 4. I was then obsessed with stamp collections. But no one posted me anything.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Instead of buying my breakfast, I'd use the very few coins to buy used stamps I loved in a stationery shop.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): One of the stamps I bought was a Japanese stamp depicting the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It was 57 years ago.
INT. HOTEL RESTAURANT - DAY
Peter, his wife, a LADY and a GENTLEMAN are eating and chatting.
GENTLEMAN: I've completed writing another book, taking a historic-legal approach.
PETER: In the digital era, people prefer current information. To publish something in print form, it's smart to write about historical side of events.
GENTLEMAN: Legal knowledge is versatile too...
PETER: But Government is going to introduce rent controls for sub-divided flats...
GENTLEMAN: Yes, it's worth the while for me to keep my notes for 30 years!
PETER (V.O.): No one would like their efforts not appreciated.
EXT. ROADS - DAY
Peter is driving his wife.
WIFE: For the past two days, our elder daughter had her paid holidays.
PETER: Is that right? She has just worked for about 10 days!
WIFE: They're Tokyo public holidays. Thursday was Marine Day and Friday was Health and Sports Day.
PETER: Good for her. But what I like best was her taking of the Modena jab provided by her employer.
WIFE: Yes! She's a lucky girl.
Peter is in thoughts.
PETER (V.O.): A Ugandan weight lifter who went missing in Japan has returned home. He didn't want to return and hoped to find work in Japan.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I read that he won many local competitions, his wife is pregnant and they would at times have not enough to eat.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In a divided world, some people have to face unspeakable desperation.
Act 3

Peter and his FAMILY are watching TV highlights of Olympic Games.
PETER (V.O.): During the pandemic, the most important thing in the Olympic Games is neither winning nor taking part, but its opening.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Incidentally, the slogan of the opening ceremony is United by Emotion.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I support the Olympic Games. But I've special emotions for countries or territories that I'm directly or indirectly connected with.
The TV breaks news that China gets the 1st gold medal of the Games.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For the indirect ones, my elder daughter is living and working in Japan and her boyfriend is from South Korea.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Anyhow, the essential thing about Tokyo 2020 is neither winning nor participating, but for everyone to adapt to changes and be fit survive.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 2021, Tokyo 2020 is a historical and current event.
