FADE IN.
Act 1
INT. STUDY - DAY
Music with extreme bass. Peter takes a look of a flashing cylinder-shaped speaker under the TV set.
PETER (V.O.): I bought his blue-tooth speaker just yesterday night. I rewarded myself for the work that I'd done on the first working day after the holidays.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As I've music in my ears, I've got pleasure, although it might be short-lived.
Peter sees new notifications.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me respond to some thought-provoking Quora answer requests before going to work again later today.
Checking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There're few. One Quoran treats pleasure as happiness...
Checking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Another one is actually asking a philosophical question: Why accepting absurdity be the start of a fruitful life?
Act 2
INT. STUDY - CONTINUOUS
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): One philosophical observation is that to search for the meaning of life in the meaningless world is absurd.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): By not accepting the absurdity, one might crave for religious or other metaphysical explanation. Such would require the leap of faith which is just as irrational as absurdity.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Thus accepting absurdity would free humans from such religious or metaphysical constraints.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Humans can just procreate to fulfill their biological function.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The physical sensations of the procreation process can be pleasurable and the mental sensations of parenthood can bring joy.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): To sustain the life force is already fruitful in life itself.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Pleasure aside, humans seek long-term happiness which is the inner sensation associated with peace of mind or calm feeling.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): People in court are generally unhappy. They may look calm but I don't believe they've the peace of mind.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Some of my lawyer friends thought of retirement as a result of that.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm fortunate enough that I've worked for 4 decades in the public sector and am still doing a lot of pro bono work.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Despite the bureaucracy, the overall goal is to create and deliver public value. I liked that, as working wasn't all about making money.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So, to start living a free and fruitful life, apart from the value of procreation, humans can capture, create and deliver values to make the world a better place to live in.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's what I've been trying to do, focusing on the bright side of life and expect positive result.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Leading such a lifestyle, I believe, is wise.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Anyhow, humans' lifespan is too short when compared to the lifespan of the universe.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We're already very lucky to have this one life to live.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - CONTINUOUS
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For several months, I've tried to salvage my old audio-visual systems.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've fixed some. I've also accepted that I couldn't fix others. Furthermore, audio-visual technology has been developing fast.
Peter takes another look of his new blue-tooth speaker.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For the past couple of weeks, I've enhanced my audio-visual gadgets considerably.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I try to make money work for me.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Enjoying better audio-visuals is pleasurable.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While there's no price tag for long-term inner sensation of calmness, a little effort made or a little money spent are conducive to that.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Achieving what I feel free to do, I've inner peace and am happy too.
Peter begins to type his answers on his phone.
FADE OUT.
