EXT. CASTLE PEAK ROAD - 13:45
Driving his numeric blue Smart, PETER is heading north.
PETER (V.O.): I've a conference with my client at 14:00.
Driving.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The liaison officer tried to fix the conference last Friday evening, she didn't know I was out of town.
Driving.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My younger son and I were visiting the Mt Moiwa Ropeway in Hokkaido.
Stopping before a red traffic light.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We just want to go somewhere we haven't been before.
Driving again.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We won't let staying alive as a full-time job.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. SHANG PALACE, SHANGRILA - NIGHT (FEB 4, 2023)
Peter and his WIFE are having dinner with COUPLES#1 & 2.
GENTLEMAN: Peter, I plan to visit Hokkaido in August. What are the places to visit?
PETER: I've never been to Hokkaido in Summer. I'd go to the southern islands of Okinawa.
GENTLEMAN: I plan to use Sapporo as a hub, driving to the north or south.
PETER: But beware of fatigue while driving through long tunnels. I'd slap myself in the face to keep me awake.
GENTLEMAN: Wow!
PETER: Apart from sharing the driving, my wife and I would also take very sour sweets to stimulate our senses.
INT. BEDROOM - MORNING (FEB 5, 2023)
Still in bed, Peter is thoughts.
PETER (V.O.): The doctor friend thought that herd immunity should protect those who haven't had Covid yet.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And it has been a fortnight since I had my 4th jab...
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I took my family to play in the snow in Hokkaido a few times.
Quickly, Peter gets up to grab his smart phone to search something.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, the Sapporo Snow Festival 2023 and the Susukino Ice World 2023 opened yesterday and will close on Feb 11.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The best time to visit Hokkaido is now!
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When the pandemic broke out in late Jan 2020, I was still able to travel to Sapporo in early Feb, before travel restrictions were imposed.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And then I had to suspend my monthly travelling hobby. Why shouldn't I revive it from 2023?
Quickly, Peter surfs the Apps of Wing On Travel & Booking,com.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's possible that I can make a trip to Sapporo from Feb 8, 2023.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): How about the Otaru Snow Light Festival 2023?
Peter checks information on the web.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It'll begin from Feb 11. Okay let me make Otaru the last night of my stay in Hokkaido.
Peter surfs websites for hotels diligently.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But all the decent hotels there were sold out on that night! Well, I'll use Sapporo as a the hub then..
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm awaiting a notice of decision that will determine the fate of my client. It'd be timely if I can follow up with that right after a vacation.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I know the snow sculptures of the Sapporo Snow Festival will be demolished on Feb 12 - the day after the end of the Festival.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
EXT. CASTLE PEAK ROAD - 16:00
Driving his Smart, Peter is heading south.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Just then, I've discharged my professional responsibility to my client.
Driving.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The conference with my client was arranged after my younger son and I had enough of the freezing temperature in Sapporo.
Stopping before a red light, Peter checks his email inbox.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, another professional assignment is coming up. I've got to remember how to do well in my jobs.
