FADE IN.
Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - 04:30
After tossing and turning in bed, PETER opens his eyes.
PETER (V.O.): What's the matter with me! I am so excited at my idea of opening another stock trading account with another bank.
Putting on an eye mask, Peter sleeps again.
INT. STUDY - 09:30
Checking a phone message, Peter looks surprised.
PETER (V.O.):The opening of a my 2nd stock-trading account with that bank was successful and I can begin trading now?
Peter makes a call.
PETER (To phone): I did try to apply but your system did not respond. I couldn't quite remember what particulars did I fill in...
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. STUDY - YESTERDAY AFTERNOON
Typing on his mobile screen the same particulars a couple of times, Peter looks frustrated.
PETER (V.O.): This is insane. They bank's system isn't responding. It's not a must I should use this bank's platform as my 2nd online stock-trading place.
INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT
Over dinner, Peter chats with his WIFE.
PETER: Early this morning, I made use of a bank account as my 1st stock-trading place. I put down a bid to buy stocks but I didn't know if it was transacted.
WIFE: Did you receive any message from the bank?
PETER: Immediately after my bid, I got a message.
WIFE: Check the message again.
Peter checks the message.
PETER: Oh yes, my bid was transacted right away.
WIFE: You probably bought the stocks at a high price.
His wife researches with her phone.
WIFE: I'm right.
PETER: I was anxious to get the successful buying experience. I don't want to wait.
WIFE: In stock trading, you make money by waiting.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.): On buying stocks, I'm a very latecomer.
FLASHBACK
INT. RESTAURANT - DAY (1982)
Lots of dim-sums on the table, a happy CLASSMATE (30) is entertaining a table of GUESTS including Peter (28).
PETER (V.O.): The host is a mature student like me. His wealth has appreciated a lot in the bull market. He doesn't seem to care about his studies.
EXT. HKU CAMPUS - DAY (1982)
Peter bumps into the Classmate.
PETER (V.O.): How're your stocks doing?
CLASSMATE: The bear market came, and no price was too low.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've borne his lesson in my mind. Studying was my top priority, and I had mortgages to redeem.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 2002, I instructed my wife to buy lots of shares of a GEM-listed bio-tech company.
FLASHBACK
INT. A FRIEND'S HOME - DAY (2002)
Peter is visiting his FRIEND, Yeung Shui-chung (楊瑞松) (52), who coughs a little.
FRIEND: I've reserved lots of my company's stocks for you. My company is the 1st bio-tech company in the Science Park.
PETER: I'll support as much as I can. We've been good friends since 1971.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): To be the CEO of a listed company was Ah Chung's dream. He made it come true while he was suffering from lung cancer.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When the stock price began to dip from the first day of trading, I instructed my wife to buy and buy.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In the end, my investment and my good friend were all gone.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 20:30
Peter is in thoughts.
PETER (V.O.): Today, I bid for the same stock in my 2nd stock-trading platform and succeeded to buy at the lowest price.
INT. BEDROOM - 23:00
PETER (V.O.): Tomorrow, I'll bid for buying stocks using my 3rd trading platform, making good use of my idle money.
Peter sleeps.
