  1. FADE IN

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. LIVING ROOM - 11:00

  4. Soft light filters through the window. PETER sits at an upright piano, a Redmi Pad 2 open in front of him.

  5. PETER (V.O.): The instructor employs a step-by-step method.

  6. Watching intently.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I think I can do it.

  8. Peter's left hand finds the bass notes, while his right hovers above the treble clef.

  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Index...middle...ring...

  10. Peter presses down, producing a few hesitant notes.

  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me pause and rewind.

  12. Watching closely, Peter resumes playing, fingers gliding over keys more confidently this time.

  13. Act 2

  14. INT. LIVING ROOM - 14: 30

  15. Peter puts aside his Redmi Pad 2.

  16. PETER (V.O.): I was so eager to learn piano techniques that I didn't do anything else so far.

  17. Pausing.

  18. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I intended to maintain my Duolingo streaks, but I couldn't resist trying out the online tutorial on the piano first.

  19. Pausing.

  20. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And I've been procrastinating on one task ie issuing a fee note for professional services rendered.

  21. Pausing.

  22. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I think it's about task prioritization: I prioritize immediate, engaging tasks over administrative responsibilities.

  23. Pausing.

  24. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The other factor is lack of structure ie without specific deadlines, the administrative task can easily fall to the bottom of my priority list.

  25. Peter takes out his laptop and opens it.

  26. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No brunch until this task is done.

  27. Peter types carefully.

  28. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My chronic problem is misplaced commas that often feel like blurry full stops.

  29. Pausing.

  30. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My poor eyesight has been a constant nuisance.

  31. Peter double-checks his draft.

  32. PETER: Done!

  33. Peter presses "PRINT".

  34. INT. DINING ROOM - 20:00

  35. The table is set for two. A wet-haired Peter appears.

  36. PETER (V.O.): I just finished my daily swim in a nearby pool.

  37. Pausing.

  38. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My wife had an early dinner to attend her evening Korean class.

  39. Peter's younger SON appears, his hair damp.

  40. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): He must have just taken a good bath. He was on call at the psychiatric hospital and didn't come home last night.

  41. They sit as the MAID puts food on the table.

  42. PETER: Worked non-stop for 36 hours?

  43. SON: Almost.

  44. PETER: Well. Eat. Then sleep.

  45. His son nods.

  46. PETER (V.O.): He's drained and is too tired for words.

  47. He looks at his son with a new, profound layer of respect.

  48. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I used to think that our professions are similarly high-pressure. I'm mistaken.

  49. Pausing.

  50. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The period at the end of my younger son's day isn't a mark on a page, but the exhausted silence of crises averred.

  51. Act 3

  52. INT. LIVING ROOM - 21:00

  53. Peter uploads a photo depicting commas in a text to a draft on his laptop.

  54. PETER (V.O.): I worry about my inappropriate use of commas. My younger son manages behavioural codes. We both value precision.

  55. Thinking.

  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In my younger son's world, the stakes aren't measured in misplaced clauses, but in the fragile space between a trigger and a response.

  57. Reflecting.

  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My younger son and I are both interpreters - I of intent into language, he of pain into understanding. Our interpretations are a matter of life and dignity.

  59. FADE OUT

  60. END
