  1. FADE IN.

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. STUDY - MORNING

  4. Relaxing in a window terrace under the sun, PETER is checking mails.

  5. PETER (V.O.): I got mail from a Quoran. She asks me to keep dancing, never give up and keep those shoes.

  6. Pausing.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Earlier, she asked me whose pair of shoes should be the most important ones in all history to put up for auction or purchase?

  8. Pausing.

  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I thought of Michael Jackson's moon-walk shoes as people including me worshipped his dancing. So his dancing shoes should have lots of extrinsic value.

  10. Pausing.

  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Then, I researched and found out that his size was 9 1/2. If I stepped into his shoes, they wouldn't fit mine. So to me, his shoes don't have intrinsic value.

  12. Pausing.

  13. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And then, I thought I shouldn't negate the shoes I wore. It's logically possible that mine could some value too.

  14. Act 2

  15. INT. STUDY - CONTINUOUS

  16. Peter takes a look of the view outside.

  17. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I believe the guitars I once used to compose my songs or perform them on stage should be of some value when I'm gone.

  18. Pausing.

  19. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): In due course, they could be put up for auction or purchase. And the receipts might go to charity.

  20. Pausing.

  21. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): With that in mind, I have dozens of guitars, much more than my shoes. My guitars are more than sound boxes. They're extensions of my creative self.

  22. Pausing.

  23. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As to shoes, a little obsessed with them as memorabilia should be okay. They can be worn if the size is right.

  24. INT. KITCHEN - AFTERNOON

  25. While having lunch, Peter is listening to music. We hear Cliff Richard singing energetically:.. Put on your dancing shoes, put on your dancing shoes, put on your dancing shoes, and dance away your blues...

  26. PETER (V.O.): When I first heard the song in the 1960s, I thought dancing shoes were metaphors - as if people wearing them would dance well like magic.

  27. Recalling.

  28. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I saw my children kicking ballet with ballet shoes, I still couldn't correlate them with dancing shoes.

  29. Recalling.

  30. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It only dawned on me when I attended my first dancing lesson - my instructor measured my foot size and bought a pair of dancing shoes for me.

  31. Recalling.

  32. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Wearing dancing shoes to dance did make a great difference. I couldn't dance well without them.

  33. Recalling.

  34. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's true that dancing can really dance away one's blues.

  35. Recalling.

  36. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But since 2011, I've stopped dancing.

  37. Thinking.

  38. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Partnership is hard enough. Dancing partnership is even harder.

  39. Pausing.

  40. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In Spring last year, I resumed my dancing with ordinary shoes in the park - as part of my physical exercises.

  41. Pausing.

  42. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But then, I developed lower back pain. I didn't know the actual cause as I also ran and did push-ups.

  43. Pausing.

  44. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Through the process of elimination, I believed dancing was the cause, as I could do well with running and dong push-ups.

  45. Pausing.

  46. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Now, a Quoran whom I exchanged emails with is encouraging me to dance again.

  47. Act 3

  48. INT. STUDY - LATER

  49. Phone in hand, Peter checks out a dance video. We hear: How to Waltz...

  50. PETER (V.O.): Waltz is my favourite dance.

  51. We hear:...do the box step... forward left...side with the right... close left foot to right foot....switch away...then....back with the right...side with the left....close right foot with the left foot...and switch away...

  52. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):I've done that over thousand times in the past.

  53. We hear: Posture...more vertical and more stretch up...feeling the vertical balance...lower...rise up...balance stays the same...use rotation...one shoulder forward...one back...balance stays the same...body rotates around this balance...

  54. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, I shouldn't never dance again.

  55. INT. PARK - EVENING

  56. At a circular open space, Peter dances his Waltz box steps.

  57. PETER (V.O.): Yes, let me try again, little by little this time.

  58. Peter dances again.

  59. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): One - two - three, forward - side - close; back - side - close...

  60. Reflecting.

  61. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In pandemic times, I don't invite anyone to dance. I'm happy to dance alone.

  62. Pausing.

  63. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What a kind encouragement from the Quoran from afar.

  64. FADE OUT.

  65. THE END
