Act 1
INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT
PETER and his FAMILY are having their Sunday dinner.
PETER: I'm appearing in court tomorrow and day after tomorrow.
The family notes silently.
PETER (V.O.): Unlike other Sundays, I hope I could sleep earlier so that I'll have the energy to engage.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): On the other hand, if I don't have to work on a Monday, I might feel a bit of the Monday syndrome.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Do I need a day between Sunday and Monday?
As Peter checks the time, desserts are served.
Act 2
INT. BEDROOM - EARLY MORNING
Peter wakes up.
PETER (V.O.): I did sleep well. A good morning.
SEQUENCES OF PETER'S MONDAY
A. Dressed in a black suit, Peter arrives at a Prosecutions Office.
B. Peter prosecutes a DEFENDENT who pleads guilty. After admitting the brief facts, the Defendant is convicted.
C. Peter is enjoying lunch in a Japanese restaurant.
D. A remanded PERSON in the dock explains to the COURT his problems as Peter listens attentively.
E. Peter leaves the court house.
RETURN TO PRESENT
EXT. SAI WAN HO - EVENING
Having hesitated, Peter walks towards the sea front.
PETER (V.O.): Today is a typhoon day. I wouldn't come out but for my court appearance. Let me see the difference.
Peter walks past a pier.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Soon after my retirement, I joined my friends to take a ferry from here to Tung Lung Chau.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When land transportation wasn't reliable in the latter part of 2019, my wife and I would take a ferry from Kwun Tong pier to land here, before walking to the court house.
Peter then sees a lone SWIMMER swimming along the sea front.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I swim better than him, but he's obviously a risk-taker.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Having had my 2nd jab for just 3 days, I'd only resume my swimming after a few more days.
Peter then focuses on the Kai Tai Cruise Terminal on the other side of the harbour.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Now, I've an unobstructed view of the cruise ship mooring there.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It looks life begins to return to normal. Will I take a cruise anytime soon?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Today, there was a defendant who committed an offence related to prohibited gathering under the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The defendant was very concerned about getting a criminal record.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): People make mistakes. In court, I see different defendants making the same mistakes.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There're also many defendants repeating the same mistakes, paying lots of fines or going to prison regularly.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They may be stupid, but nature isn't. It won't let anyone to repeat a life.
Act 3
EXT. FIREBOAT EXHIBITION GALLERY - EVENING
Peter is initially attracted by the retired fireboat and then by a Gallery notice at its entrance.
PETER (V.O.): Typhoon signal no.3 is being hoisted? Anyhow, I still have 30 minutes to visit the Gallery.
Entering, Peter steps inside the retired boat.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This retiree is one year older than me. It still works in retirement in a new way.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Me too, I am a junior in my private practice.
.Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In court and in life now, I still act like the inner young person I always have been.
.INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT
PETER (V.O.): If the days I work are Employee days, I've done one today.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And after another Employee day tomorrow, the rest of the days this week will be my Boss days!
