Act 1

EXT. SHEK O BEACH - LATE MORNING
Having parked his car, Peter gets off with a red bag and a phone, leaving his other belongings inside the car.
PETER (V.O.): That's how I'd spread the risk. I just deposit my bag including the phone on the beach, often within the sight of a lifeguard in his tower.
Having done his routine, Peter goes swimming.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The sands are fine. The water's cool. There's no red flag, I hope the water won't turn rough.
Peter swims breast strokes and free style from one side of the swimming area to the other.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I feel good that I'm not competing with anyone.

Later, when other CUSTOMERS arrive, Peter pays and leaves.
EXT. SHEK O BEACH - AFTERNOON
Sitting in a bench facing the sea, Peter is glued to a phone.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I take only this old phone to beaches. It doesn't look new. I feel it won't be stolen.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, the phone battery is very low...
Peter notices something.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, part of the phone cover is gone. I've glued the torn parts a while ago.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Having concluded a non-refoulement claim case in summer 2018, I bought this iPhone 8 plus and the protective cover.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As the red-colour model was first available, I bought one. I also bought a navy-blue cover.
Taking out the old blue cover to check the red phone, Peter sees paint chippings on one side of the phone.
EXT. MALL - LATER
Peter is checking phone covers at stalls.
PETER (V.O.): They sell covers for the latest models. The cover I bought for my iPhone 12 Pro Max was excellent.
Lowering his body to check other phone covers, Peter finds something.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is the only iPhone 8 plus cover I can find here. It's a soft clear cover.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's good to reveal my old phone's true colour.
Peter pays at the cashier.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Should I re-paint the exposed metal parts? Would it be too cumbersome for a cosmetic issue?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But, if it doesn't look good, I won't feel good.
INT. KITCHEN - LATER
Getting a bottle of juice from the fridge, Peter sees a small Doraemon cartoon sticker on it.
PETER (V.O.): My family members all love Doraemon. My wife and I even took a Doraemon train in its creator's hometown Takaoka.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But for the pandemic, I'd have made another 17 trips to somewhere now.
INT. STUDY - LATER

PETER (V.O.): The Olympics women 20km walk is being held in Sapporo! That's where I last visited in Feb 2020!

PETER (V.O.): I've Siri and Google Assistant in my smart phones.
INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT
Peter puts his phones aside.
PETER (V.O.): My smart phones aren't smarter than me.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I make the necessary arrangements to make them have good look and feel.
Going to bed, Peter takes a look of his three smart phones - two blues and one red.
