PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm still driving it.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. CAR PARK, HKUST - 09:15 (A fortnight ago)
Parking his navy blue MB next to a Porsche 911, Peter sees his COLLEAGUE waiting in the driver seat.
PETER: Hi there! The first time I see you driving this car!
COLLEAGUE: It's a 1989 model. I bought it years ago. It is worth $2.M now.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 1976, I bought my first car - a used metallic blue Ford Capri GT.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 1969, I saw a teacher of my secondary school driving a Ford Capri GT. I thought I'd buy one when I could afford it.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Later, when another former teacher of my secondary school saw me cleaning my Ford Capri GT by the roadside, he couldn't believe I owned it.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 1978, I bought my second car - a used Ford Cortina GXL with air-conditioning.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In early 1979, it burnt itself in the Middle Road Multi-storey Car Park, causing lots of property damage and troubles to me.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I thought Japanese cars were reliable. I bought my colleague's 1978 Toyota Corolla, although it was just a sedan.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Also in 1979, I bought a Daihatsu Charade just because it was brand new and cheap.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 1980, I felt in love with the brand new Toyota Corolla GT and Honda Prelude.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although I still I loved my Ford Capri GT and had repainted it many times, its structural corrosion was so severe that I had to scrap it.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I sold the Toyota Corolla and the Daihatsu Cherade when my mind was set to buy the new Toyota Corolla GT and Honda Prelude.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Paying the monthly hire-purchase instalments for years, I treated my new Toyota and Honda as my son and my daughter.
EXT. PETER'S NT HOME - 19:30
As Peter takes out a leaflet from the letter box, we see a car sales advert.
PETER (V.O.): The last time I bought a new car was in 2003. I pledged to my wife that I wouldn't have more than six cars at any one time.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And I don't want to let go any of my old cars.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But that doesn't mean that I'm not in tune with new cars. I drive the rental ones while travelling overseas.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I won't be happy to drive one more than three years old.
Act 3
EXT. TUEN MUN HIGHWAY - 20:00
Peter is driving his signal red Nissan 200SX.
PETER (V.O.): I bought it in 1989. I had my first experience of pop-up headlights, power steering and turbocharging. It's 33 years old and I'm still driving it.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Anyone can buy new cars. My old cars are more than vehicles taking me from one point to another.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I take good care of my old cars and they'll take good care of me on the road, and in my heart.
