Kaji: A New Emotion

FADE IN.

Act 1

INT. SLEEPING ROOM - NIGHT

Resting at the bed bottom, KAJI becomes alert.

KAJI (V.O.): I feel something.

Kaji gets up to look out of the window.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's a change in weather. It'll rain.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I recall when we went to my pet garden when the sun was on leave, I walked past wet roads and pools of water on the ground.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): It seems it's windy outside too.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I love to breath in the open wind when Peter drives.

Kaji takes a look at PETER in bed.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): He's sleeping like a log.

Kaji returns to sleep.

ACT 2

INT. SLEEPING ROOM - CONTINOUS

A beat. Kaji gets up again.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): I feel the demons who make loud noises will soon come.

Kaji looks restless at her spot.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I had better get closer to Peter.

After checking out Peter's pillow, Kaji rests her head on the pillow and sleeps back to back with Peter. Then, a clap of thunder sounds.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, the demons are approaching. I'm scared.

Kaji looks at Peter.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): It seems that he's deaf. How come he couldn't hear the loud noises?

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's nowhere I can get cover. My present spot here is the best I can get.

As he rolls over to Kaji's side, Peter pets her body and touches her legs.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, although he doesn't say a word, he's aware of my company. It seems that he just isn't afraid of the demons.

Pondering.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Why should I feed my fears?

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Why should I let fear control me?

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): But it's quite nice that Peter would pet me because of it...

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): So far, the demons have done me no harm.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): As a matter of fact, I've never turned tail in public.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Can't I be as brave as Peter?

Act 3

INT. SLEEPING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): With Peter by my side, I think I can control my frightful emotion.

Hearing something.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, the demons seem to have been washed away by the heavy rain.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): At home, I know I won't be washed away.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): In fact, Peter would comfort me whether or not the demons are around.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): As this's the first time I share Peter's pillow, I've a new emotion.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's one of best moments of my life.

Kaji sleeps.
