Kaji: Critical Eye

FADE IN.

Act 1

INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY

KAJI sees PETER checking out a big container.

KAJI (V.O.): That's where their pet tortoises live.

Kaji checks Peter's motion.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): I believe he's taking them to their pet garden.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): Where's our maid? She must be on leave today.

Kaji follows Peter into the bathroom.

INT. BATHROOM - DAY

Opening the container, Peter puts the two tortoises into the bathtub.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): He does that very carefully. I'm a bit jealous.

We hear tap water sounds.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): Oh, I don't want to bathe. I hate it.

Kaji walks away.

Act 2

INT. SLEEPING ROOM - DAY

Relaxing in bed, Peter is looking for something. Kaji jumps onto the bed to join him.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): My field of vision is quite wide. He's looking for his handbag which isn't too far away from him.

FLASHBACK

EXT. ROAD JUNCTIONS - DAY

Kaji, the PACK LEADER and Peter arrive before the traffic lights. The signal is red.

PETER: Stop!

KAJI (V.O.): I know we shouldn't cross.

Kaji pays no attention to the signal when it turns to green.

PETER: Go!

They cross the road.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can't tell how Peter makes the decision. I simply follow his sound and his body posture as cues.

END FLASHBACK

Kaji stares at Peter's arm and hand motions.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): What's it that he tries to communicate with me?

Peter then takes out a tissue paper.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Does he want to sneeze? Oh, dear!

Act 3

INT. SLEEPING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Peter then unwraps the tissue paper carefully.

KAJI (V.O.): My critical eye can see there's something.

Kaji begins to sniff.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, I can smell a treat.

After letting Kaji enjoy the treat, Peter goes back to the bathroom.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): He's now playing with the tortoises. He loves them too.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can feel that with my heart.

INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY

Following Peter, Kaji sits next to him on a sofa.

KAJI (V.O.): I've got Peter's silent cue. I trust my instinct that Peter won't love me less.

Kaji looks content.
