FADE IN
Act 1
INT. HOME - MORNING
KAJI gazes intently at the MAID's movement.
KAJI (V.O.): It's breakfast time.
But the maid's legs walk past the kitchen.
KAJI (V.O.): You still haven't prepared breakfast for Peter and me yet.
A mix of curiosity and concern crossing her face.
MAID: Bye!
The door shuts.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Primary feeder: gone. Food input: zero.
Kaji goes to the bedroom to check on the PACK LEADER and PETER.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Secondary feeder: still sleeping. Contingency: Peter.
Act 2
INT. HOME - CONTINUOUS
Kaji waits by the bedside.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I sense that Peter is about to get out of bed.
As Peter rises from bed, he goes to the bathroom.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): He has his morning routine.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I prefer to stick to my routine at the riverside park.
Kaji follows Peter to the bathroom. watching him quietly as he goes through his morning routine.
PETER: Okay, I'll be quick.
Later, as Peter goes to the living room, he notices Kaji seated gracefully at the piano.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont): If Peter sits at the piano, he'll likely lose himself in playing for a long time.
With a warm smile on his face, Peter captures a photo of Kaji as she beams back at him.
PETER: Alright, I'm going to buy bread for us.
Peter leaves.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): The wait cycle begins.
When Peter returns with something in his hand, Kaji whines.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm filled with joy.
They share a loaf of bread, and before long, it's entirely gone.
PETER: Finished!
We then hear an alarm sounding from the bedroom.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): If the alarm can wake the Pack Leader, I'll have my first meal of the day.
After several rounds of alarm sounds, the Pack Leader appears and fills Kaji's bowl with kibbles.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Usually, I don't have to beg for my meals. But treats are a different story.
FLASHBACK
Kaji's entire being is focused on the Pack Leader.
KAJI (V.O.): She holds a treat in her hand.
PACK LEADER: Sit.
Kaji sits.
PACK LEADER: Down.
In one fluid motion, Kaji reclines like a sphinx, resting her chin on her paws.
PACK LEADER: Kiss.
Kaji kisses the Pack Leader.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I do whatever the Pack Leader says. The scent of the treat is overwhelming.
The treat is presented. Kaji accepts it with a soft, precise mouth.
PACK LEADER: Stop begging Peter for food!
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Begging is a word I dislike. It's degrading treatment.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. HOME - NIGHT
Finshing his second meal, Kaji goes to bed right away.
KAJI (V.O.): Emotion proposes; logic disposes.
Thinking.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): If Peter returns with the smell of food, the system is good. If not, reinitiate the "sad eyes" subroutine. It's an elegant, proven protocol.
Reflecting.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): The beauty of logic isn't in reaching an answer, but in illuminating the path so clearly that anyone can follow.
