Act 1
INT. URBAN ROADS - DAY
Sitting in the PACK LEADER'S lap in the passenger seat, KAJI observes the passing scenery,
KAJI (V.O.): I doubt we're heading to the riverside park.
Observing.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): It looks like we're heading to the vet's clinic again.
Recalling.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I remember when the vet operated on my left leg, and I had to stay there alone overnight.
We see and hear the Pack Leader talking to PETER, who is driving.
PACK LEADER: She trembles slightly.
Peter feels Kaji's body with one hand.
PETER: Oh dear, it's still stressful for her.
Act 2
INT. VET CLINIC - LATER
Consultation room. Sounds of distant barking. A vet ASSISTANT places Kaji on a metal examination table.
KAJI (V.O): Oh, the table is cold.
The VET enters and reviews Kaji's medical history.
VET: Let her walk on the floor.
After giving her body a good shake, Kaji takes a few circles.
VET (Cont'd). She walks very well.
Lifting Kaji onto the examination table, the vet examines Kaji's leg muscles.
VET (Cont'd). Her left leg has healed beautifully.
Pausing.
VET (Cont'd): Unlike the last time I saw her, she now has a well-balanced physique.
Pausing.
VET (Cont'd): And she's not fat.
PACK LEADER: Not fat?
VET: For a Shiba Inu, her weight is just right.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Wow, the not-fat report rebuilds my ego.
VET (Cont'd): I don't need to see her again.
PACK LEADER & PETER: Thank you Vet.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): No more visits needed!
INT/EXT. AIRSIDE SHOPPING CENTRE - DAY
Kaji and Peter wait outside a shop as the Pack Leader does some window shopping.
KAJI (V.O.): I prefer to trot quickly on the grass outside.
Later, they reach a pet-friendly lawn area.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): The grass! It remembers my mighty paws.
Running.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Healing isn't quiet. It's the sound of paws hitting grass at full speed.
Then, Kaji relieves herself.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've been holding my pee and poop for hours.
INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
While resting in a massage chair, Kaji is side-eyeing Peter enjoying watermelon nearby, catching the Pack Leader's attention.
PACK LEADER: No! Stay right there!
KAJI (V.O): I'm medically not fat. Remember what my vet said.
As the Pack Leader goes to kitchen, Peter approaches Kaji and offers her a small piece of watermelon.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): Peter is a fun Dad. The Pack Leader is a responsible Mom.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): Tough love is still love.
Act 3
INT. LIVING ROOM - LATER
Kaji is relaxing on a sofa with Peter and the Pack Leader.
KAJI (V.O): The cold table holds the warm news - the not-fat report.
Kaji gazes at Peter and then the Pack leader.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): One carries treats. The other carries my heart. Love sometimes say "no".
Kaji takes a look of her legs and notices no difference between her healthy right leg and the healed left leg.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): Healing is a celebration of body and spirit. Every health victory is a permission to embrace joy.
