Act 1
INT. URBAN HOME - DAY
KAJI observes the PACK LEADER and PETER intently.
KAJI (V.O.): No hints that we'll be going out at all.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): They might prefer to stay home today, but I'd rather go out.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): While they can go out without me, I can't go out without them.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Stuck at home. I feel like I'm gaining weight.
The Pack Leader picks up Kaji's leash.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): It seems that she doesn't want me to gain weight.
Act 2
EXT. SUBURBAN HOME - DAY
After parking the car by the roadside, Peter chats with the Pack Leader.
PETER: Let's see if our darling would recognize our suburban home.
PACK LEADER: You've parked the car in front of it.
KAJI (V.O.): After a long journey, I can't wait to get off.
As Peter opens the gate, Kaji trails closely behind him.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): I only come here occasionally.
They step into the grassy front yard.
PETER: Kaji, do you like our suburban home?
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): Here's where the grass is softer than those in the riverside park.
Kaji immediately goes to relieve herself.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): Why don't we live in this low-rise building?
Pondering.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): May be they need the height to feel bigger.
PETER (to Kaji): Would you like to take the stairs and check the different floors?
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): I feel obliged to heed Peter's suggesion.
After reaching 1/F, Kaji doesn't continue to the 2/F.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): My heart always wants to go down.
Back to the front yard, a stray cat strolls past Kaji, clearly at home in the area.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): I think home is a feeling rather than a structure.
EXT. PET-FRIENDLY RESTAURANT - NIGHT
Inside a nice tuk-tuk style cabin.
KAJI (V.O): It's cool and exclusive here.
As Kaji inspects the seats, Peter captures her action.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): With the Pack Leader and Peter here, I feel at home.
Soon, Kaji starts to drift off to sleep.
FLASHBACK
INT. URBAN HOME - DAY (Around a fortnight ago).
Dimly lit. Kaji stares at the front door,
KAJI (V.O): There's no sound. I'm home alone.
Many days later. The door opens. The Pack Leader and Peter drag suitcases inside.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): I'm so happy that they're home.
Kaji dances at their feet, whining.
PACK LEADER & PETER: Missed you too! Good girl.
KAJI (V.O)(Cont'd): Our home here is small, but their voices of love bounce off the walls now, and that's enough.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. URBAN HOME - NIGHT
Kaji rests on a sofa, exhausted.
KAJI (V.O): Loyalty is a leash I choose to wear.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): The suburbs whisper. The city barks. I rest best in the in-between.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O) (Cont'd): I've my day out. But home is the only place I'll wait forever for.
