FADE IN.
Act 1
INT. STUDY - 15:50
Mobile in hand, PETER looks anxious.
PETER (V.O.): Should I place a market order for Macau's casino stocks? The price is all time low.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But the investment risk is high and trading time will end in 10 minutes.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've placed a number of buying orders today, but only one has been fulfilled so far.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As I've waited for decades before coming onto the stock market, I might wait a little longer in the falling market.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The decision reminds me to place a bet on the Mark-6 lottery, or I'll forget.
Act 2
INT. STUDY - 16:00
Having tapped the Hong Kong Jockey Club icon and a few others on his mobile screen, Peter looks bewildered.
PETER (V.O.): How come I've got around $100,000 in my betting account?
Wondering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The balance should be in two digits.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.): Have I won a 3rd prize of the Mark-6 lottery?
Peter taps the mobile screen a couple of times. It's obvious he doesn't know how to check the transaction records.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me check the result of the last draw and see if the 3rd prize is about $100,000.
Checking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No, the 3rd prize credit was just $39,320.
Wondering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I regularly do e-transfer of funds to my betting account. But my practice has been to transfer $100 each time.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Could I have transferred $100.000 believing it was just $100?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's possible but is improbable. I'd confirm the amount to be transferred.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For the past couple of days, I've been opening stock trading accounts in banks. Could I have transferred $100,000 into my betting account instead?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can't believe I was that stupid.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Could somebody have deposited money into my account by mistake?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, I must find out, or my using of the balance in my betting account may amount to theft.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Shall I call the Help Desk?
Checking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But I should check again how to access to my transaction records.
After taping on his mobile screen a couple of times, Peter finds something.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, the Mark-6 lottery drawn on 9/11 ie the draw before the last one, an amount of around $100.000 was credited to one of my bet-units.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I first won a Mark-6 3rd prize in 2005. It has been a lapse of 16 years.
Peter punches the air.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 16:30
Researching with his mobile, Peter finds something.
PETER (V.O.): The probability of winning a Mark-6 3rd Prize is 1/55491. I bet a total of 3 bets on 9/11 and won a 3rd prize alongside other 55 winning units.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The random-generated unit matches five drawn numbers, missing one. The 2nd prize goes to units matching the 5-drawn numbers and an extra number.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.): The amount of good luck coming one's way depends on one's willingness to act. I've been supporting the charitable Hong Kong Jockey Club since 1975.
Pausing.
ETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While luck isn't in my hands, decision is. I make my own luck.
On his mobile, Peter places a Mark-6 bet.
FADE OUT.
