FADE IN.
Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - MORNING
PETER wakes up.
PETER (V.O.): Today is the first of May. The estate swimming pool opens on this day every year.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Which session should I go? Morning, afternoon or evening?
Peter's WIFE is still sleeping.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I should give my wife good company on a non-work day. Having breakfast together is another routine.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'll probably go in the afternoon.
Act 2
EXT. ESTATE SWIMMING POOL - AFTERNOON
Peter swims breast stroke and freestyle. Later, he rests by the pool wall, putting his knees and hands against water jets.
PETER (V.O.): The jet pressure here is pretty strong. I enjoy the water massage.
Peter watches OTHERS swimming.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Swimming here is very convenient and pretty exclusive.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What I always remember on 1st of May is Bee Gee's song "First of May". It's one of my teenage favourite songs.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I know May 1st is also Labour Day.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But for decades, I didn't work just for 8 hours a day. I had neither 8 hours of recreation nor sleep.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Moreover, I rely more on my skill and judgment rather than labour in capturing and delivering value.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Anyhow, today is a Saturday and a public holiday. As a self-employed now, I can work pretty flexibly most of the time.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My wife and I will set off at 4pm to a cinema to watch the film Another Round.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's Oscar's Best International Feature Film this year. I've checked that the reviews were favourable, but the box office receipts could be better.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Recently, my wife and I have more recreation together.
Peter swims again in backstroke and then in butterfly style.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I always do butterfly style in the end. After stretching all my muscles, I'd feel exhausted.
Peter leaves.
INT. BATHROOM - LATER
Peter is washing his hair with shampoo and conditioner.
PETER (V.O.): Very comfortable. Looking forward to another date with my wife.
INT. CLUBHOUSE - LATER
While Peter is still inside it, he checks his left hand and looks shocked.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, my wedding ring has gone.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It came loose either in the swimming pool or inside the bathroom.
SEQUENCE OF PETER'S FOLLOW-UP ACTIONS
A Peter returns to his bath unit but he doesn't see any ring.
B. Peter returns to the swimming pool and speaks to one STAFF there.
C. Peter goes to the clubhouse reception to report his loss.
END SEQUENCE
INT. CINEMA - LATER.
Alongside other SPECTATORS, Peter and his WIFE leave.
PETER: Whether I could find the wedding ring at all is troubling me.
Act 3
INT. BATHROOM - EVENING
Using a self-made long clip, Peter checks the inside of a drain.
PETER (V.O.): I don't think my wedding ring has gone down the drain.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But what could have happened elsewhere a long time ago has happened.
INT. BEDROOM - LATER
PETER (V.O.): Tomorrow, I'll continue to exercise my labour in searching the swimming pool floor.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'll definitely do that in the early morning swimming session.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): From now on, I'll remember what happened on May 1st, 2021. But life continues whatever happens.
FADE OUT.
THE END
