PETER checks a Quora notification.
PETER (V.O.): "What plans do you have for this weekend?" That's the answer request.
FLASHBACK
INT. BEDROOM/DINING ROOM - MORNING (EARIER)
Peter is lying in bed, observing KAJI, their pet, stepping on his sleeping WIFE.
PETER (V.O.): Our pet couldn't tell today isn't a work day.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've no plans for the weekend as I don't have to prepare for any Monday work.
Later, they've breakfast together.
Act 2
INT. POST OFFICE - NOON
Accompanying his wife to post a parcel, Peter takes a photo of it.
PETER: I don't even know the exact address of our elder daughter in Tokyo.
After paying, a STAFF takes over the parcel.
PETER (V.O.): My wife planned to post our daughter something that she hasn't used for nearly two years.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): She has settled down in Tokyo and couldn't come home soon.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): She's our lovely daughter. She's strategic and calm.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): First, she built her Japanese language proficiency. Then she seized the job opportunity in Tokyo.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Now, she lives and works in Japan, as planned.
INT. SITTING ROOM - AFTERNOON
Mobiles in hands, Peter discusses with his wife.
PETER: I've never done Taobao. The swimming gear I want to shop online are one inflatable life-saving swimming buoy and one full-face goggle fitted with short-sighted lens.
Pausing.
PETER (Cont'd): I plan to manage the risk, just in case.
Their DOMESTIC HELPER makes a report, showing images.
PETER: Thanks, we'll check it out.
INT. ESTATE CAR PARK - LATER
Peter and his wife are checking the tires of their New Beetle.
PETER: Oh, one is getting flat due to fair, wear and tear. Let's go to replace them right away.
EXT. ROADS - LATER
Peter drives very slowly and cautiously.
PETER: It'd be bad if I have to tow it to the car tire shop...
WIFE: I believe we can make it.
PETER (V.O.): Our risk tolerance levels aren't the same.
Arriving at a car tire shop, they look relieved.
INT. STUDY - LATER
Peter is watching TV.
PETER (V.O.): A day after the suicide bombing near the Abbey Gate of the Kabul Airport, the US did an unmanned air-strike against ISIS-K; and killed two high-profile targets?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Some of the last casualties of US' 20-year war in Afghanistan were just babies on 9/11 in 2001.
Someone is speaking on screen.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I hate to hear words of condolences, particularly emphatic ones eg "tributes to heroic losses".
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): All these can be prevented if peoples and countries prefer peace rather than war.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
On TV, we hear someone talking about threat.
PETER (V.O.): Is threat the last resort of a person with no vocabulary? The allies have no plans to cease and desist their acts of aggression.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When would the future switch from being a threat to being a promise?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Humanity is such that whatever that is a threat will always a target. I know it isn't fun to read any death threat.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And the Almighty seems to have no plans to control evil better. I'd rather be nobody than to be somebody evil.
Peter types his answer on the mobile.
