  1. FADE IN.

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. STUDY - MORNING

  4. It's 7.15am. After checking the laundry racks from a window, PETER works on his laptop.

  5. PETER (V.O): I'd better researching and drafting something while my mind is fresh.

  6. Recalling.

  7. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Having done my first year in Law School in 1982, I worked in the Attorney General's Chambers during the summer holidays. I was asked to discern the multipliers used in Personal Injury (PI) cases.

  8. Phone in hand, Peter does his research, hitting the keyboard from time to time.

  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I mustn't forget to take part in the BIP Asia Web Forum at 10.am.

  10. Beat.

  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, it's time follow IP-related issues now. PI & IP, or IP & PI are quite symmetrical.

  12. After switching on his computer on a desk, Peter peeps through the window.

  13. Act 2

  14. INT. STUDY - CONTINOUS

  15. Seeing something, Peter is delighted.

  16. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Oh, the couple are back again - 4 days in a row!

  17. Peter continues to peep discreetly.

  18. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I don't want to frighten the couple. I love them to be back.

  19. Peter peeps the outside edge of the window.

  20. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Oh, the little bits of biscuits I placed there are still there. So they aren't coming back for food.

  21. Pausing.

  22. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): There're so many laundry racks in this high-rise block, why do they choose to hang around here?

  23. Shrugging.

  24. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Anyway, I love their company.

  25. Pausing.

  26. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I feel good to find that love is all around.

  27. Peter then refocuses on the computer screen.

  28. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Oh, the Professor-speaker is now in Xian. He has been contributing a lot on science and technology from HKUST.

  29. Pausing.

  30. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): What I did was to design and develop the IP system which is a significant element of the research and development ecosystem.

  31. Recalling.

  32. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I also helped establish the bilateral IP relationship between Hong Kong, China, and New Zealand and regional IP relationships with the European Free Trade Association.

  33. Recalling.

  34. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): The highlight of my IP career was to act as a WTO Dispute Settlement Panelist to settle trade-related IP disputes between US v European Communities, and Australia v European Communities from 2004-2005.

  35. Pausing.

  36. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): And now, I'm just a passive participant of the IP Forum I helped start up.

  37. Pausing,

  38. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Let me do some PI research in parallel.

  39. Leaving his seat, Peter peeps through the window again.

  40. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Oh, the couple have left.

  41. INT. STUDY - AFTERNOON

  42. Turning his head in the direction of a clock, Peter sees 2.45pm.

  43. PETER (V.O.): Oh, I've been working for a couple of hours on PI. I need a tea break.

  44. Peter goes out.

  45. INT. STUDY - LATER

  46. Sitting behind the computer, Peter is watching the Web Forum again.

  47. PETER (V.O.): There hasn't been much development on IP dispute settlement. The market isn't supply-driven. Further, good innovation-IP management prevents that.

  48. Peter sees an incoming email notification.

  49. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): OK, the materials of another domain-name dispute settlement have come.

  50. Pausing.

  51. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Such disputes are only marginally related to the proper domain of IP.

  52. Pausing.

  53. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): But it is in this context that I got a death threat in Feb this year from afar. I believe the pandemic travel restrictions have prevented the "hiredkiller 12" from causing harm to me and my family.

  54. Peter acknowledges receipt.

  55. Act 3

  56. INT. STUDY - LATE AFTERNOON

  57. The Web Forum ends. Peter works on the computer.

  58. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Well, I've got an urge to do a very rough draft of my decision of the domain-name dispute.

  59. Peter carries on working.

  60. EXT. PARK - NIGHT

  61. Peter is jogging.

  62. PETER (V.O.): Apart from my mind, I need to exercise my body too. My legs are adapting well of the new routine. The swimming pools are closed now.

  63. INT. DINING ROOM - STUDY - LATER

  64. It's 10.15pm. Peter is having dinner with his WIFE.

  65. .PETER (V.O.): I've always insisted we've dinner together.

  66. .Finishing dinner, Peter goes to the study to check the laundry racks again.
