FADE IN.
Act 1
INT. MINI - STUDY - DAY
Peter is watching video clips.
PETER (V.O.) : These new dancing videos on Waltz and Tango are good. I can re-learn the terms of dance figures. I can practise them correctly again.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Years ago, my wife and I learnt from dance instructors. We just memorised the step sequences and the dance movements.
Remembering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We looked good when we danced in ballrooms. But in social parties, we bumped into others because there wasn't sufficient room for us to so our inflexible choreography.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I danced the man's steps and my wife, the lady's. I didn't quite know how to lead and thus I wasn't good in dancing with others. There is room for improvement of my leading.
Watching further video clips.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The old dance teacher in these videos suggests ballroom dance can be done in a sitting room. In non-ballroom environment, the size of a sitting room is often the space available for each pair.
Peter gets up to try a few steps.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Not enough space. I had better practise them in public open space after my physical exercises.
Peter goes out.
Act 2
EXT. PARK - DAY
Holding a phone in a small purse in one hand and a set of keys on the other, Peter practises Waltz and Tango.
A FRIEND (60s) walks past.
FRIEND: Where do you learn dancing these days?
PETER (Smiling): I don't go to dancing lessons these days...
Peter carries on practising.
INT. MINI - STUDIO - DAY
Surrounded by a 12- string acoustic guitar, an electric rhythm guitar, a bass guitar and guitar amplifiers, Peter is watching a black-and-white music-video.
PETER (V.O.): This 1961 mandarin song composed by Yao Min is really good. The melody is dynamic. It can twist and turn people.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The lyrics make sense to me now. They compare Cha-Cha-Cha with Rumba and Samba, Waltz and Foxtroit.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was a kid, Cha-Cha-Cha was trendy. Now, I'm a senior citizen and am still learning it.
Clicking another video icon, Peter watches a video called "The best Cha-Cha-Cha Lesson Ever".
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Wow, this one was only shared in February 2020.
We see new graphic effects, and hear cyber sounds.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Well, the presentation has eye appeal. But, just to repeat the basic 5 steps of Cha-Cha-Cha is no fun. Anyway, it was just a free promo.
As the playing ends, Peter examines the end credits.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Directed by George Lucas...? Written by Woody Allen...?
Peter eyes are wide-open.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): ...and Edited by Who Cares Really?
Peter forces a smile.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Attribution of work does matter in copyright.
Peter does a few guitar strumming.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The song I love Cha-Cha is resonating in me. I wonder if I would have the inspiration, despite my seat time. Great melody and lyrics don't come easy.
We can hear Peter exhaling strongly.
Act 3
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
Checking his phone, Peter looks excited.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, the same old dance teacher has shared his third dance-at-home video today! It's Slow Fox.
As Peter watches the video, he tries to follow the steps.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, I've missed the sequence of that figure.
Peter taps Rewind, re-watches the footwork as he practises again.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, my sitting room is smaller than his. I've got the Feather Steps, the Reverse Turm, but not the Hoover. Let me first show my appreciation by liking it. I liked his previous home-dance videos too.
Peter then goes out.
EXT. PARK - NIGHT
Open space. Peter dances and dances and his figures look better and better.
PETER (V.O.): I think I've got it. I still have muscle memory in doing Foxtrot. Great!
Leaving, Peter does Rumba walks along a path.
INT. MINI - STUDY - DAY
Peter hits the computer keyboards.
PETER (V.O.): I've researche in music, have practised some footwork, and is about to complete another short screenplay. How fulfulling!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, before I go to bed, I've to revisit my draft decision on a domain name dispute. There's always room for improvement on anything.
FADE OUT.
THE END
