Act 1
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
PETER is responding to some Quoran answer requests. We hear an oldie from a internet radio.
PETER (V.O.): I heard the oldie's instrumental music in the 1960s. I don't know it's a song with lyrics. What is its title?
We hear a male singing voice:.. the breeze and I.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The Breeze and I!
Surfing the web with his smartphone, Peter taps an icon and we hear a female singing voice.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This isn't it.
Peter taps another icon. We hear a male voice singing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's Bing Crosby song...
Then, we hear Spanish lyrics.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The song I heard earlier doesn't have Spanish lyrics. Let me try again.
Act 2
INT. SITTING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Surfing the web again, Peter taps on a video clip.
PETER (V.O.): I can't resist to watch the gossip story of the late Pearl Au Ka Wai. She was one of my favourite Cantonese actress.
Watching.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I didn't know the late tycoon Henry Fok was one of her admirers. He founded the Fok Ying Tung Research Institute. I visited it twice before the pandemic.
Finished watching, Peter taps on another video clip.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I want to learn about the gossip story of the late Di Na or Tina Leung. In the 1960s, she was a sexy symbol and was as popular as Bruce Lee.
Watching.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While I was working in the Castle Peak Hotel, she had a film set there. My colleagues tried to get a glimpse of her. She had thousands of admirers.
Surfing the web again, Peter taps on a video clip the third time.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't know why Chow Yun-fat, the actor who played the King in the film Anna and the King, divorced his first wife soon after their marriage.
Watching.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 1998, I invited him to appear in my Department's function and he accepted. My wife volunteered to escort him and his wife to the venue.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was a primary school pupil, I read lots of gossip stories. My Mum bought tabloids every day.
Peter then taps on a video clip depicting a record. We hear a male voice singing: The breeze and I are saying with a sigh...
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Ah! This is it!
Peter checks the small prints on the record device.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The record was released in 1940. The vocal chorus was by Bob Eberly.
Checking a chat group notification, Peter sees an image of an identification card.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My sister shares our Mum's journalist identification card, issued on 1 Sept 1955.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was just a little over 1 year old then. My late Dad was a photographer of the Chiu Yin Newspaper.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): He had all the photography gears. We had a dark room at home.
Checking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The address registered in the journalist identification card was correct.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Then, my Dad would take me to the harbour-front newspaper office from time to time. President Chiang was kind.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I enjoyed watching the Yaumati ferries mooring and feeling the harbour breeze.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My Mum would occasionally complain about my
Dad's photo sessions with starlets.
Sighing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My Dad passed away 10 years ago. I miss him a lot.
Act 3
EXT. OCEAN CENTRE CAR PARK - NIGHT
Peter, his WIFE and their PET are enjoying the harbour night.
PETER (V.O.): The pre-War building used to house the Chiu Yin Newspaper was long gone.
Peter captures the moments with his handheld devices.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Gossip stories are more popular than before. I note the large number of views of the online ones.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I've thought about producing authentic documentaries for willing elderly.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But even for myself, mining of interesting stuff takes time. And one's number of heartbeats isn't infinite.
Peter takes a deep breath.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, the breeze and I are saying with a sigh.
