FADE IN.
Act 1
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
PETER is chatting with his SON.
PETER: As you've returned home, practise driving whenever you like. The keys are in the car-key box.
SON: Yes, but I can't find the one for the Mercedes.
PETER: Is that right? I've kept one. I thought the spare one was in the key box.
Peter checks his hand bag thoroughly
PETER (Cont'd): No. I've just got one.
Peter goes to a side table near the main door to check the key box.
PETER (Cont'd): Yes, all the other car keys are here, except the one for the Mercedes.
Pausing.
PETER (Cont'd): I recall when we took a pleasure ride weeks ago, I had the two keys with me. Then, the car didn't start promptly.
Act 2
INT. SITTING ROOM - CONTINOUS
MONTAGE OF THE CAR'S IGNITION PROBLEM
A. Inserting a key into the ignition, Peter turns it. Nothing happens.
B. Peter tries again, the same.
C. Peter uses another key to start the car, we hear start-up sounds.
END MONTAGE
PETER (V.O.): I don't know if it's the car's problem or the car key's problem. To play safe, I brought both keys.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Since then, I've been driving the Mercedes pretty regularly, and the problem has gone away.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): An then, I'm not concerned if the spare key is with me anymore.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): One one occasion, I did drop something in the car park and couldn't find it...
FLASHBACK
INT. CAR PARK - DAY
Getting off from the driver seat with an unzipped handbag, Peter hears something dropping on the ground.
PETER (V.O.): It sounds like a coin rolling somewhere.
Checking the floor nearby, Peter sees nothing. He lowers his body to the ground to check, flashing his phone torch.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I couldn't find anything. I believed it was a coin and wouldn't bother further. Could I have dropped the spare key?
INT. ESTATE SECURITY OFFICE - DAY
At the counter, Peter makes enquiry with STAFF#1.
PETER (V.O.): I might have dropped a car key in the car park sometime ago. Did anyone find any car key?
Sitting in a nearby desk, STAFF#2 hears Peter and looks responsive. Then, he picks up a car key from his drawer before approaching Peter.
STAFF#2: What car key have you dropped at the car park?
Peter shows Staff#2 his car key with the Mercedes device on it.
PETER: Exactly the same as this one.
Discreetly, Staff#2 compares the one in his possession with Peter's.
STAFF#2: They don't look the same.
Peter can see car key logo too.
PETER: It's Volkswagen car key. Not mine.
Disappointed, Peter leaves the office.
PETER (V.O.): People do drop car keys, and they don't know they have lost them.
END FLASHBACK
Act 3
INT. STUDY - DAY
Peter looks a little restless.
PETER (V.O.): For nearly one month now, I've been searching the car key and couldn't find it.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.): I'm quite confident that I didn't drop it in public places. But where have I mislaid it?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Let me try again.
As he removes the shoes in a shoe rack, Peter sees a key-like object on the floor. Peter smiles widely.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I've found it!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I don't have a clue that I dropped the car key here. I don't know what I don't know.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): It's such a relief. My belief that I didn't lose it is correct.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Now, I know I can drop things without knowing it. The finding is quite revealing.
FADE OUT.
