An Inspiration

  2. Act 1


  3. INT. STUDY - 10:30


  4. PETER is researching and drafting something.


  5. PETER (V.O.): I've done a lot. I'll reward myself with a second breakfast with my family.


  6. INT. SITTING ROOM - 11.30


  7. The FAMILY are having McDonalds'.


  8. WIFE: I'm going out to do facial.


  9. PETER: Shall we have tea break together?


  10. WIFE: I don't need anything until dinner.


  11. PETER (V.O.): What should I do then? Continue doing my professional work?


  12. As his wife leaves home, Peter goes to the study.


  13. Act 2


  14. INT. STUDY - 12:00


  15. The window view captures Peter's attention. He takes photos of two boats in the harbour.


  16. PETER (V.O.): I don't have a boat. But I've got an inspiration.


  17. Pausing.


  18. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): On such a nice day, I shouldn't work at home. I should go to the beach.


  19. EXT. CAFETERIA NEW BEACH - 12:45


  20. Getting out of his car, Peter is pleased to see the beach is open.


  21. PETER (V.O.): It was still shut on April Fools Day.


  22. In swimming gears, Peter tests the beach water.


  23. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The water temperature is fine with me.


  24. Peter begins to swim.


  25. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): First time to swim in a bay this year.


  26. Recalling.


  27. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The beaches in Hong Kong were closed in 2020.


  28. Pausing.


  29. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's so comfortable in the sea water. The water quality isn't bad.


  30. Recalling.


  31. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The last time I swam overseas was in Miyakojima in August 2019.


  32. Having done all the swimming styles, Peter leaves.


  33. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me now go back to my NT home to continue fixing it.


  34. INT. PETER'S NT HOME - 13:30 - 19:30


  35. Terrace, 2/F.


  36. PETER (V.O): Some cement plaster have fallen off. Now's the time to fix it.


  37. Having mixed white cement powder with water with his hands, Peter uses the cement to fix the fallen-off part.


  38. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't have any equipment. But I want to do it before the rainy season.


  39. Peter checks his cement plaster work.


  40. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Should be Okay.


  41. Study, 1/F.


  42. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me continue re-fixing the peeled-off wallpapers here.


  43. After breaking a chopstick, Peter uses his hand to apply the white adhesive on the wallpapers.

  44. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Using my hand is swifter.


  45. Peter works and works. The study looks better than before.


  46. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, my hands have become very uncomfortable - the effect of cement powder or white adhesive? I'm very tired too.


  47. After washing his hands, Peter leaves.


  48. INT. STUDY - 20:30


  49. Peter checks his smart phone.


  50. PETER (V.O.): Oh, in the morning, my son asked me if it's OK for him to come home for dinner tonight!


  51. Act 3


  52. INT. DINING ROOM - 21:00


  53. Peter is having dinner with FAMILY.


  54. PETER (V.O.): If I checked my messages earlier, my son should be joining us now.


  55. Pausing.


  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've had a creative and productive day. But I just want to have the best of both worlds.


  57. INT. STUDY - 21:30


  58. Peter researches and drafts something again.


  59. PETER (V.O.) : I've re-read an appeal case that I dealt with. And I've got an inspiration.


  60. Peter types on his phone.


  61. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd) :Yes, I'm now reasonably pleased with my rough draft.
