Act 1
INT. LIVING ROOM - 20:00
Sitting on a sofa, PETER taps his Duolingo app. A cheerful owl device greets him.
PETER (V.O.): Some battles are loud. Mine are fought with a finger on a phone screen.
Peter begins to practise Spanish.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They think age means slowing down. They don't know about streaks.
Cheerful dings of correct answer sound.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): On average, it takes me a few minutes to maintain a streak in one language.
More cheering dings.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): However, I'm learning seven languages daily.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's uncommon for me to maintain my streaks late in the day.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
EXT. URBAN ROADS - 08:45
Dressed in a suit, Peter is driving his deep blue MB when he encounters slow traffic.
PETER (V.O.): That's why I start my journey early.
Peter adjusts the AC dials - nothing changes.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The airconditioning isn't working.
Peter lowers the windows.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Fair enough; it hasn't had any issues in 23 years.
INT. DETENTION CENTRE, CASTLE PEAK - 09:50
A letter in hand, Peter approaches a security check point manned by OFFICER#1.
PETER: I'm a counsel. I've a meeting with my client at 10am.
At the reception, Peter presents his Barrister card and ID to OFFICER#2 to verify.
PETER (V.O.): Whenever I finish my work here, I love to swim at Butterfly Beach.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I spent countless hours there as a boy.
Peter touches his bandaged forehead.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): However, this time I've promised my family I won't swim until August.
EXT/INT. PETER'S NT HOME - 13: 30
A refreshing exterior, but it's messy inside.
PETER (V.O.): Little by little, I believe I can make the interior reasonably organized.
Having changed to casual wear, Peter heads up to the 2/F veranda and uses a floor cleaning solution mixed with water to clean the surface.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I haven't done this in years.
Peter is sweating all over.
INT. ELDERLY HOME - 16:30
Common room. Peter approaches his MUM (93) in a wheelchair.
MUM: Oh, you've injured your forehead.
PETER: Yes, I had a run-in with a corner of a hanging shelf.
A young TRAINEE approaches them.
MUM: He's my...
TRAINEE: Your hus...?
PETER: Her eldest son!
INT. FAT BOY'S GARAGE - 18:15
Peter hands over his MB to FAT BOY.
PETER: I need to retrieve the car by the middle of next week so my younger son, who is returning from Sydney, can use it.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Peter looks exhausted.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Just one more lesson in Korean...
Act 3
INT. LIVING ROOM - 22:30
Peter adds an AI drawing titled "The Streak Must Go On..." to a draft on his laptop.
PETER (V.O.): It's not just the owl. It's showing up. For myself.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The car broke. The heat broke me. But the streak? That's mine to keep.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Castle Peak to Fat Boy's garage...the only cool air I feel now is relief.
FADE OUT
