Act 1
INT. SITTING ROOM - YESTERDAY NIGHT
Having discussed with his WIFE, PETER looks enlightened.
PETER (V.O.): My wife has learned a lot on the job. I'm quite an underdog in defending defendants.
INT. STUDY - LATER
Standing by the printer, Peter gets some papers.
PETER (V.O.): My legal arguments in the case assigned to me should be very persuasive.
It's midnight. Peter drinks some milk.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I hope I can sleep well. I need that for my court work.
INT. BEDROOM - 5.50am
Peter wakes up.
PETER (V.O.): I'm so lucky that I can get some sleep before every court hearing.
Act 2
INT. OFFICE - 9:00am
STAFF#1 speaks to Peter.
STAFF#1: Yesterday, I chased for our client's background report and found out that it wasn't done.
PETER: Is that right? Our client has been remanded in jail.
Later, in an interview room, STAFF#2 speaks to Peter with a pile of files in hand.
STAFF#1: Err...our client has instructed his own private lawyer...
PETER (V.O.): Oh dear, I've done lots of preparation and mean to prove how persuasive I can be! What a loss for not believing in underdogs!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Anyhow, I've already learned something, I don't mind learning more on-the-job.
SEQUENCE OF PETER'S ON-THE-JOB LEARNING
A. Peter and staff#2 begin to interview CLIENTS#1 and #2.
B. Peter and staff#2 go to the cell to interview CLIENTS#3 and #4.
C. In court, upon Peter's application, Client#1's case is adjourned.
D. In court, upon Peter's mitigation, Client#2 gets a suspended sentence. There's deep eye contact between Client#2 and Peter.
E. In court, Peter's bail application was rejected, and Client#3 has to be remanded as before.
F. In court, upon Peter's mitigation, Client#4 looks content to serve the short-term sentence.
G. Back to the office, Peter and staff#2 interview CLIENT#5 who has just appeared.
H. In court, upon Peter's mitigation, Client#5 looks content to follow the guards to the cell.
I. Out of court, COUNEL#1 & 2, who have been listening to Peter's submissions in court, begin to engage with Peter.
END SEQUENCE
EXT. COURT HOUSE - 1.15pm
Heavy rain. Peter waits at the exit.
PETER (V.O.): Have done what's required for the underdogs, I feel good.
Phone in hand, Peter checks some Quora notifications.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): "What's the nature of a tour in my view?" That's the question.
Having taken a photo of the scene in front of him, Peter types on his phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's like a magical ride to discover oneself.
SEQUENCE OF PETER'S PAST MAGICAL RIDES
A. Feb, 2020, Peter is travelling solo in Sapporo and Otaru.
B. Jan, 2020, Peter is in Tokyo.
C. Nov, 2019, in Fukuoka.
RETURN TO PRESENT
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, I can't remember all of my solo trips since I turned 60.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For the past few days, I've had quite a mental tour too.
NT. MALL - AFTERNOON
At a pop-up stall, Peter joins the old folks to play a digital goalkeeping game.
PETER (V.O.): OMG, my digital hands aren't as agile as my real ones.
On a large digital screen, we see a digital opposing team scoring all the time.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Again, I'm an underdog.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.): Everyone's tour is different. My tour moments today were quite sweet.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What I'm looking for comes when I'm not looking at all.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Life has a way of surprising people with unexpected happenings. I'm more pleased than I originally planned.
