  2. MONTAGE


  3. A. Living room - morning. PETER swipes through a Japanese lesson on his phone screen. He mutters under his breath. The app chimes approval.


  4. B. Swimming pool - early afternoon. Peter extends his arms forward. His shoulders rise and fall like wings. He does the dophin kicks. Water explodes around him.


  5. C. Cha Chaan Teng - afternoon. Peter sits in front of the TV, watching the news while spooning fried noodles and slices of pork into his mouth, a warm cup of Ovaltine sweating beside his plate.


  6. D. Store - late afternoon. After comparing a wide range of wireless mice, Peter finally settles for one.


  7. E. Living room - evening. Peter sits at an upright piano. His fingers hover over the keys.

  9. INT. LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS


  10. Peter sits deep in thought.


  11. PETER (V.O.): Yesterday night, my wife and I had the pleasure of attending a recital performed by my friend Patrick and his team. They sang wonderfully in German, Italian, French, as well as English and Chinese. Listening to them made me determined to improve my own foreign language skills.

  13. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was particularly inspired by the visually impaired pianists. Their remarkable performance reminded me that I need to work even harder, as I've time now.

  15. FLASHBACK


  16. INT. BEDROOM - 05:00 (27 March 2026)


  17. The room is dark. Peter tosses and turns. He checks the bedside clock: 05:05.


  18.  PETER (V.O.): Can't sleep. It'd be hell if I had to appear in court today.


  19. Recalling.


  20. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For months, I've had March 27, 2026 marked on my calendar as the hearing date.


  21. Recalling.


  22. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My PCLL classmates will be having a bi-monthly lunch on March 27, 2026, and I had already told them I couldn't attend.

  25. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): About a week ago, things changed and I learned that I didn't actually need to be there.


  26. MONTAGE


  27. A. Zungfu - afternoon (19 March 2026). Peter finally gets back his MB which has been kept by the repairer since Dec 2025.


  28. B. Lands Dept - morning (20 March 2026). Peter, with two BROTHERS and a FRIEND, assist Peter's MUM to acknowledge receipts of land compensation cheques.


  29. C. Victoria Park - evening (23 March 2026). Peter and his WIFE watch the Hong Kong Flower Show 2026.


  30. D. Cinema - morning - (24 March 2026), Peter accompanies his WIFE to watch the movie Night King.


  31. E. The NT - day (25 March 2026). Peter drives their 1995 Eunos 30X to the scrapyard, and then his wife completes the process to buy a 2026 BYD Sealion 7.


  32. F. Cinema - afternoon (26 March 2026), Peter and his wife enjoy watching the movie Tokyo Taxi.

  34. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And I've fixed my March trip...I've to be at Futian before 8:30 today - the unlikely date.


  35. He rubs his face, reaches for his phone and opens the Duolingo app. The bright green owl appears.


  36. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'd better maintain my Duolingo streaks first so that I don't have to do them in the hotel tonight.


  37. MONTAGE OF PETER'S MARCH TRIP


  38. A. Cheery garden - afternoon. Peter takes close-up images of cherry blossoms in pink and white.


  39. B. Hotel onsens - night. Peter finds pure joy in bathing at different kinds of onsens.


  40. C. Lake district. - afternoon. Peter enjoys the scenic beauty of lakes, where peaceful waters reflect the surrounding landscapes in perfect harmony.


  41. RETURN TO PRESENT


  42. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Time is the only currency that matters.


  43. Pausing.


  44. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And for the first time in months, I wasn't spending it on stress.

  46. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was investing it in life.


  47. Pausing.


  48. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Many constraints I accept as fixed are actually illusions.

  50. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Freedom often comes from paying close enough attention to realize the door was never closed.

  52. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Anxiety is just certainty waiting to be discovered.

  54. INT. LIVING ROOM - 23:55


  55. Peter uploads an image to a draft on his laptop. It shows a close-up of delicate, ruffled cherry blossoms in full bloom, with soft green stems and buds against a blurred background.


  56. PETER (V.O.): The calendar is just ink. What I write over it is what matters.


  57. Thinking.


  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What is a legal obligation compared to a mother's hand, a car that starts for the last time and a cherry blossom.

  60. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The best case I ever won was the one I didn't attend.
