INT. STUDY - DAY
Phone in hand, PETER is checking Quora notifications.
PETER (V.O.): Here's an answer request: How important is reminiscing?
Pausing
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): People reminisce a lot. My peers and myself too.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I recall and reflect upon important events within my life from time to time.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I can't help it, and I don't mind either.
Peter surfs the web.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Let me see if there's any study on the subject.
Act 2
Reading.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): It is said that reminiscing helps the seniors define their identity.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Isn't it too late?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Perhaps, nothing is ever too late.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I believe time is illusively linear. There're only space and motion. The so-called past, present and future are in the same dimension.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Even if I take time as linear, the present is just as much as the past as every living moment is an experimental experience.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): It's a fact that those who are born are growing older each day.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): The seniors in particular have to cope with the challenge.
Reading.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Through reminiscing, they can recreate their life meaning and increase their life-esteem.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): That's why they particularly like to reminisce and share their feelings together.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): But there're stories that can't be shared anymore.
Peter takes a look of the white bass guitar on the rug.
FLASHBACK
INT. HK HOME - NIGHT (1987)
Peter's WIFE (32) was playing an electronic piano, Peter (33) is playing a white bass guitar, singing a song in Mandarin.
RETURN TO PRESENT.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): The Mandarin song was: Around Winter Time - a hit song then, and we liked it.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Returning from London with two LLMs, I wasn't particularly happy with my career development then.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My wife thought I used to play guitars in the 1970s. She let me have a blank cheque to buy guitars, although we're paying mortgages for two premises.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's an important event that I'll never forget.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): The event reflected our mood in Winter, 1987.
Act 3
INT. CHAMBERS - DAY
Peter is chatting with three GENTLEMEN.
PETER (V.O.): We haven't had a chat like this for years. Pretty pleasurable.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We still have deep commitment to do public good, even though we're in late adulthood.
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
Peter is working on his laptop.
PETER (V.O.): I'll continue to document some past events, so that those interested can access to them when I'm gone.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): And before that, I'll continue to indulge in my enjoyable recollection.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They're timeless treasures of my heart and constitute my life.
Peter types his answer on the phone.
FADE OUT.
