Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - 09:45
Sunlight filters through the curtains. PETER lies awake. Beside him, his WIFE sleeps deeply. Peter turns his head to gaze her.
PETER (V.O.): Today, our tasks include picking up the wedding banquet invitation cards from the printer in Cheung Sha Wan.
Pausing
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We've been organizing our elder daughter's wedding banquet in Hong Kong.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We haven't purchased the traditional wedding gold items for her yet.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The gold items will only be worn during the banquet and won't be used for casual wear.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I often question the true value of gold's glitter.
Act 2
EXT. CASTLE PEAK ROAD - SHEUNG HANG ROAD - 15:15
Peter drives a New Beetle. Lush green hills rise on one side, the city sprawls below on the other. His wife navigates loosely with her mobile.
WIFE Make a right turn...
PETER: Oh, I've missed it.
WIFE: Take the next one then.
PETER: It leads to nowhere...
WIFE: Never mind, we've already completed our main tasks.
Peter turns into a narrow ascending side road.
PETER: I've never noticed this road...
The New Beetle emerges into another world. A tiny cluster of old village houses clings to the hillside.
PETER (Cont'd): Where on earth are we?
WIFE: It's like stepping back decades.
PETER: I didn't know places like this still existed here.
WIFE: I see a sign: Kau Wah Keng.
PETER: Is that right? I recall a distant relative lived in Kau Wah Keng when I was a boy.
PETER (V.O.): I remember asking my relative where Kau Wah Keng was, and she told me it was located behind Lai Yuen Amusement Park.
Peter reverses the New Beetle just before it reaches someone's property.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Life's map is drawn in detours. The destination may be ordinary; the gold is in the getting lost or exploring places together.
FLASHBACK
INT. HISTORIC SADO GOLD MINE - 14:30 (29 July 2025)
Dimly lit. Faint sound of footsteps. Peter and his wife walk down a tunnel.
WIFE: Visiting this former gold mine is the highlight of our trip to Sado Island.
They continue walking, passing by old mining equipment and displays of artifacts.
PETER: Men worked down here, chipping away in challenging conditions.
WIFE: The gold that built Edo...filtered through this rock.
PETER: I feel the damp, but not the wieght of Japanese history.
INT. EXHIBITION ROOM - 15:15
Peter and his wife see a gold bar inside a transparent box and then a sign: Feel free to touch it.
WIFE: Wow, it's impressive up close.
PETER: See if you can lift it up.
His wife successfully lifts it up.
WIFE: This is solid gold and is heavier than it looks!
PETER: How many never found their gold?
WIFE: The mine operated around the clock in shifts, and many miners passed away earlier than expected.
PETER (V.O.): I suddenly recall the Bee Gees' song "New York Mining Disaster 1941"
PETER (Humming): In the event of something happening to me...
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 21:45
Peter uploads an image suggesting "Where the Gold is" to a draft on his laptop.
PETER (V.O.): The real gold isn't buried in mountains; it's woven into the quiet moment between two hearts that remember.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The most precious ore is memory - crafted from forgotten moments and refined by the passage of time.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Love is the only mine where the deeper I go, the richer I become.
