Act 1
INT. STUDY - DAY
Checking his phone notifications, PETER smiles.
PETER (V.O.): Here's a cute question: They say pictures in your smart phone reveal a lot about who you are. What three things do you have the most photos of? Mine would be my cat, Rockies games and my family.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I have lots of photos of my dog as she can't complain. I've no games as I don't have spare time to pass. I just have a few of my family as they don't like me capturing their images.
Peter checks his Photos App. We see images demonstrating the conscious use of imagination.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): All my photos represent my artistic ideas, expressing beauty.
Checking other photos depicting crowds.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I attended the National Day Reception, I captured some photos, representing ceremonial art.
Checking one showing artistically a box of mooncakes.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is a modern articulation of a traditional cultural expression.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I like to take photos not just due to the upfront pleasure of experiencing life, but also of keeping fond memories of them.
Act 2
INT. SITTING ROOM - NIGHT
Checking his phone notifications.
PETER (V.O.): Here's another answer request about me: Can you list three things that we'd be shocked to learn about you?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Should I respond to it? I don't want to shock anyone.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But I'd like people to know that I've got a website for my pet, Kaji. Apart from songs written for her, I write and publish weekly screenplays from her perspective.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What other two things should I talk about? The recent one is about a life threat from a hired killer due to my professional work.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):I've shared the story with a former classmate recently and she found it shocking.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That other one happened in Spring 2004 when I was appointed by the Secretary General of WTO to settle two international disputes: US v European Communities, and Australia v European Communities.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, these're the three things that I could share.
Finishing answering on his phone, Peter sees another answer request.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): "On average, how many hours do people spend on their mobile phones?" That's the question.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That must be many hours. Is there any study on this matter?
Peter surfs the web with his mobile.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's no consensus. But it's believed that people spend 11 hours a day on their screen time.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've a hunch that it's far from wrong. Let me check my daily average.
Having tapped Setting on his phone screen and then screen time, Peter looks shocked.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh my god! My daily average is 10 hrs 59 minutes!
Act 3
INT. STUDY - DAY
Peter checks his phone notifications.
PETER (V.O.): Here's another answer request: "Am I experiencing my life, or am I experiencing my memory of a life?" That's interesting.
Peter surfs the web with his phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The way to explain that is this. We've two selves: (1) the experiencing self, and (2) the remembering self.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In experiencing life, we decide basing on which self appeals to us more: The no-memory experiencing self for present pleasure? Or the memorable remembering self for overall happiness?
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In my case, I believe my remembering self is the dominant one. I take photos of my life experience so that they'd jog my memory.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Every memory makes me who I'm.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Every experience, artistic or shocking, online or off-line shapes me.
Peter begins to type his answer on the phone.
FADE OUT.
