FADE IN:
INT. STUDY - DAY
The table clock displays 14:00. Phone rings and PETER takes the call.
PETER
(To Caller)
Hello?
PETER (Cont'd)
(To Caller)
...He wants to talk to me on
a case?
A beat.
Peter talks to the phone.
PETER
(To Someone)
... Okay, but I haven't
got the file yet!
INT. OFFICE - DAY
Peter checks some files.
PETER (V.O.)
This's it!
Peter studies the file.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
A trifle. What a waste of
time.
INT. STUDY - DAY
Peter studies papers. forms. photographs and video clips.
PETER
I don't like to appear in
court on Mondays as it
spoils my quality time
on Saturdays and
Sundays.
INT. ROAD - DAY
Carrying a loaded brief case, the tired Peter checks a phone message.
PETER (V.O.)
You want my timely input?
I felt like I was awake for
for the past 24 hours. I
need another 4 hours to
do that.
INT. SITTING - NIGHT
Peter sees his wife relaxing on a sofa, watching TV.
PETER (V.O.)
My wife sleeps 4 hours per
day only. That doesn't mean
she can sleep 28 hours on
Saturdays or Sundays.
.
A phone notification. Peter types: "I'll let you have the stuff sometime after midnight."
INT - STUDY - NIGHT
A table clock displays 00:40. Peter works on his computer.
PETER (V.O)
Okay. That's done.
.
He clicks the SEND key. Then, a mail notification pops up.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Oh my God, he has been
waiting for them. It'd be
nice if we've a 28-hr day!
Peter goes to the sleeping room.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I've to try to get some
sleep or it might not impact on my court
performance hours
later.
INT. COURT - DAY
At the exit, Peter is with a WOMAN and a few MEN. Man#1 shakes hands with Peter thankfully.
MAN#2
(To Peter)
Have a good rest!
PETER (V.O.)
That's a kind reminder.
I was so involved in the
proceedings that I didn't
feel it!
EXT. ROAD - DAY
As he walks, Peter checks his phone message. We see him typing: "I'll let you have it ASAP"
PETER (V.O.)
I now feel tired.
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
Staring at a letter in the computer screen, Peter wonders.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
How come that I've already
had a letter dated today?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd)
Oh yes, I was still working
early this morning. Let me
update the chronology of
events.
A beat.
PETER (V.O)
Okay. That's done.
He clicks the SEND key.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd)
If I can't have a 28-hr
day, I'd deliver as if
I've a 28-hour day!
FADE OUT. The End
