FADE IN.
EXT. UNIVERSITY CAMPUS - MORNING
Congregation ceremony. A big CROWD including robed GRADUATES gather at the atrium. PETER, robed, is on stage, alongside other robed LADIES and GENTLEMEN.
MC
...the national anthem.
The robed party stands and takes off their hats. As we begin to hear the national anthem, Peter sees a few isolated students in the audience do the Hitler salute.
PETER (V.O.)
What do they mean?
Then we begin hearing chanting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I see. They're raising a
political point.
Chanting continues.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
While the unruly doesn't
abide any rule, a majority
of the people in society
are rule-abiding.
Then a PROFESSOR (40s) intervenes at the podium.
PROFESSOR
Today is a joyful day...
Be respectful and quiet
please...
As the chanting dies down, the proceedings continues.
MC
...Doctor of Philosophy...
Names mentioned and GRADUATES begin to come up on stage.
PETER (V.O.)
Well, the University has
quite a number of PhD
graduates. They're good
role models for others to
follow. I also feel myself
witnessing a world of
talents.
A beat.
MC
...Bachelor of...
Names mentioned. GRADUATES begin to come up on stage.
MC (Cont'd)
...First class of honours...
PETER (V.O.)
They look smart and
intelligent.
Then, Peter sees some GRADUATES wearing masks.
PETER (V.O.)
No one get first
class honours...
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Why do they wear
masks? They can't
hide their identities
There's audio-visual
recording and their
names are read out
loud and clear...
Peter focuses on the masked graduates.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Perhaps, wearing their
masks is like baby's
nipple suckling behaviour.
Stupid is as the stupid
does.
EXT. UNIVERSITY CAMPUS - AFTERNOON
Roped ladies and gentlemen are on stage. Another big CROWD including robed GRADUATES gather at the atrium.
As soon as the robed LADIES and GENTLEMEN including Peter are on stage, a GROUP of people in black comes up on stage to upstage them, chanting, and showing banners, as the SECURITY STAFF separate them from the robed ladies and gentlemen.
PETER (V.O.)
It's evident that the
minority stupid ones
want to corrupt the
majority, particularly
when their support is
waning. But their
unruly behaviour
corrupt themselves.
What they do, in the
end, is self-destructive.
Having satisfied themselves, the people in black leave the stage.
The congregation is in session. Another group of GRADUATES come up on stage and their names are mentioned one by one. A few wear masks.
PETER (V.O.)
Again, no PhD and first-
class honour graduates
wearing masks. As the
good ones are rational
and positive, and so they
perform better.
We hear chanting from time to time.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Just some background
nuisance. My ears are
selective and aren't
listening to the shouts
anymore.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
They're desperate. Here's
their last safe haven. A
congregation like this will
be the first and the last!
FADE OUT. The End
