Kaji: Focus On What Matters

FADE IN.

INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY

Looking at KAJI as the PACK LEADER is going out, she says to PETER who works on his phone.

PACK LEADER

I've just fed her. Tell

her to drink some

water.

Peter nods with hesitation.

KAJI (V.O.)

If I feel I've a need

for it, I drink the

water myself.

Peter sits near Kaji's water bowl and points at it.

PETER

Water, water...

Kaji does not respond.

KAJI (V.O.)

I know it's water. So

what? I don't want

to drink any now.

Don't misjudge me

that I've no sense

of direction.

Then, Peter takes something out of his trouser pocket.

KAJI(V.O.) (Cont'd)

(Curious)

What have you got?

Coming close to Peter, Kaji keeps her eyes wide open. She sees Peter holding a treat near the water bowl.

PETER

Water, water...

Kaji does not respond.

KAJI (V.O.)

I'm only interested in

the treat only.

Peter then feeds Kaji with some water.

KAJI (V.O)

Okay, let me lick the

water drops, and see

what happens next.

Peter passes her the treat.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Okay, that's a deal.

The obstacle between

Peter's passing me

the treat and my having

it is water. I'm right

though to focus on the

outcome rather than

the obstacle.

As Peter repeats his actions, Kaji removes the obstacle an enjoys the outcome.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Okay, I know how to

play this focus game.

Focus on what matters.

EXT. PET GARDEN - DAY

Standing next to Kaji is a smaller DOG which wags its tail like a car's windscreen wiper at slow speed. Kaji sees Peter talking to the pack leader in a distance.

KAJI (V.O.)

What are they talking

about?

We hear indistinct conversations.

PETER

I believe Kaji is happy

with her companion.

PACK LEADER

Her companion is

obviously happy. I'm

not sure about her.

PETER

She's looking at us.

Let's pretend to leave

and see if she'll follow

us!

PACK LEADER

She won't!

The pack leader then waves her hand and says: "Bye Bye!"

KAJI (V.O.)

Bye, Bye? How can I

just watch you two go?

Ignoring her companion, Kaji runs towards the pack leader and Peter.

PETER

Surprise! Surprise!

She's really a good

dog!

KAJI (V.O.)

Don't think that I've

got distracted by my

companion. I focus

on what matters!

Kaji takes the lead to walk to the exit.

KAJI (V.O.)

We're so good and

so attached to each

other that we want

to be together all the

time - yesterday,

today and tomorrow!

FADE OUT.
