FADE IN.
INT. STUDY - DAY
As he types on his phone screen, PETER sees a What'sApp message: Morning.
PETER (V.O.) Haven't heard from
my banker for a long
time. She must have
something good for
me now. I'm content
with her service to
ensure I have a little
return on my investment.
Having tapped the phone screen and heard voice messages, Peter types: I'll come to your office later today.
INT. BANK OFFICE - DAY
A BANKER (40s) has prepared a document for Peter to sign.
BANKER
Any other business this
afternoon?
PETER
(Signing)
Yes, I want to go
swimming.
EXT. KOWLOON PARK - DAY
As he approaches a quiet swimming pool entrance, Peter sees a notice: Service suspended...
PETER (V.O.)
(Enlightened)
Oh, I only thought
about the upside of
frequenting Tom Lee
Music nearby. I forgot
the pool has been
under maintenance.
It's too late for me
to go elsewhere for
the afternoon session.
Peter scrolls in the Park.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I used to come here
from 1971-1973 when
the park was like a
wasteland.
Peter sighs.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Now, the Park has all
the facilities, including
swimming pools. In the
old days, my only choice
was the Castle Peak
beaches.
Bumping into a hedge maze, Peter maneuvers the divided passages.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Is this the first time
I do it in Hong Kong?
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I'm contented with little.
There're many others
who are discontented
even with much.
Coming out from the maze, Peter bumps into a square where there are lots of pigeons.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Wow, my first time in
Hong Kong to see so
many pigeons flocking
together. Here must be
the homing pigeons'
sanctuary.
Peter walks discreetly across the square.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
They've wings but walk
a lot. They look contented
and aren't afraid of me.
I believe they trust that
I won't go wild.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I'm returning here like
a homing pigeon too,
having had a frolic of
own in offices...
As he reaches the other end of the square, another MAN (50s) enters in the opposite direction. The man then uses his limbs to frighten the pigeons so that they've to fly away.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
(Looking at the man with contempt) He might think he's
superior to them -
like an eagle; but he
only demonstrates
his pigeon of discontent.
Exiting the square, Peter then sees the exit to Nathan Road.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Oh, the pigeon's square
is so near to civilisation.
EXT. NATHAN ROAD - DAY
Passing through a closed MTR entrance, Peter looks upset.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
So much damage has
been caused and repair
work is still continuing.
Apart from inconvenience,
it tarnishes Hong Kong's
hard-earned reputation.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Unlike gentle and smart
pigeons, some humans
can be violent and
untrustworthy.
INT. TOM LEE MUSIC - DAY
Peter is looking at some gig bags.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
If there're reasonably
good gig bags here,
I don't have to buy
those I saw in Tokyo.
A red and brown bag catches Peter's eyes.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
The colour scheme
matches the top of
the acoustic guitar
that I recently bought.
Yes, I'll buy it and use
it for my next
performance!
EXT. BUS - DAY
Sitting with the gig bag by his side, Peter looks contented.
PETER (V.O.)
Although I can't swim
today, I've done
something different.
It makes feel like a
bluebird of happiness.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)
Oh yes, my banker
has something to
follow up with me
shortly. We won't
let assets become
liabilities.
FADE OUT. The End
