PETER sets phone alarms.
PETER (V.O.): I'' set the alarms just to ensure that I'd sleep well. I know I'll wake up well before the alarm time.
INT. STUDY - 06:00 - 07:45
Peter is reading files and a thick book.
PETER (V.O.): I believe I'm very well prepared.
Peter gets a printout from a printer.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This case authority says that in law, uncontrollable impulses are not involuntary.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is the power of law. If it deems an act or omission as an element of a crime, then the act or omission is such an element.
Act 2
EXT. ROAD - 07:45 - 08:00
Carrying a brief case and in a black suit, Peter walks towards a MTR station.
PETER (V.O.): Today is May 4. I always deem the day a special day for me. In 1989, I ensured my 200SX coupe delivered to me on May 4.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So my coupe is 32 years old. It costs me a lot of money to keep my oldest car.
Peter sees an old light blue Beetle with the registration number VW 1971 driving past him.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Judging by its look and its engine sounds, I think it was really manufactured in 1971.
Walking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, it's 50 years old. My coupe isn't that old after all!
Walking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I began private practise in 2017, I deemed the costs of my practice as the costs for maintaining my possible 7th car.
Walking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's a pleasant surprise to me that the pocket money I earn from practice can support the maintenance of all my cars.
INT. COURT ROOM - 9:30 - 13:00
Crowded. Peter is prosecuting,
PETER (V.O): I feel law in action.
INT. RESTAURANT - 13:20 - 13:50
Peter is enjoying fried noodles.
PETER (V.O.): That's how I reward myself for hard work.
INT COURT ROOM - 14:30 - 16:30
Crowded, Peter is prosecuting.
PETER (V.O.): I've to dispose of the summons fast. I've got to allow sufficient time to finish a part-heard case.
Peter submits before a MAGISTRATE, handing in a case authority.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's a lot of law in this criminal damage case.
INT. OFFICE - 16:30 - 17:30
Peter is writing reports.
PETER (V.O.): I've never had such a hectic day, prosecuting summons and prosecuting a part-heard case within a day.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I believe I've discharged my professional role very well too.
EXT. SWIMMING POOL - 19:45-20.45
Peter is swimming.
PETER (V.O.): I've just urged counsel on the other side to reply to my draft Admitted Facts.
Resting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Perhaps, I shouldn't continue refining my domain name decision tonight. I need to relax.
Swimming again, Peter sees a LIFE GUARD trying to talk to him.
PETER: Yes?
LIFE GUARD: A thunderstorm is approaching. We're closing now.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): An acceptable excuse for me to miss my 1K daily target?
Act 3
INT. BATHROOM - 20:45 - 21:00
Peter is having a shower in one unit.
PETER (V.O.): I love to use this unit now as I've cleaned up the drain days ago.
INT. STUDY - 21:30 - 22:15
Checking some phone messages, Peter makes a call.
PETER (To phone): I've read the papers. You want to brief me?
INT. BEDROOM - 00:15 (THE NEXT DAY)
Peter puts aside his phones.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While I don't have to set the alarm for tomorrow, I still have to file an Agreed Facts to court and to issue my domain name decision.
Turning on a bedside radio, Peter goes to bed.
