Act 1
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
Relaxing on a sofa, PETER is thinking.
PETER: (V.O.): I've done a lot today including what I planned to do tomorrow.
Pausing.
PETER: (V.O.) (Cont'd): After driving my wife to her office tomorrow morning, I might visit the Quarry Bay water front again.
Peter checks his phone images.
PETER: (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, I thought I was there recently. Actually, it was 10 days. I was so busy with my professional work.
EXT. COVERED CAR PARK - DAY
Inside his SMART car, Peter starts the engine.
PETER: (V.O.): No problem after a lapse of 10 days. The car battery is OK if I recharge it by driving the car once in a while.
Peter checks the car's upholstery.
PETER: (V.O.) (Cont'd): Some parts look damp. The car needs some sunshine.
Act 2
EXT. CAR PARK EXIT - DAY
Seeing Peter's car approaching, two STAFF greet it with smiles.
STAFF: Your car is very cute!
PETER: Thank you!
Happily, Peter drives away.
EXT. ROADS - LATER
The sun comes out from behind the clouds.
PETER: (V.O.): Sunshine! The car's already mine. Please warm her heart.
Stopping before traffic lights, Peter notices that some LADIES at the sidewalk are staring at his car and then at him. LADY#1 gives Peter a thumbs-up.
PETER: (V.O.) (Cont'd): They've artistic sensibility. They appreciate I'm riding inside an artistic object.
Smiling, Peter waves thank you.
As LADY#2 waves back to Peter smilingly, Peter waves Hi before he drives away.
PETER: (V.O.) (Cont'd): The expressive power of my car is really strong. I like these artistic exchanges.
Peter parks the car near the Quarry Bay Park.
EXT. QUARY BAY PARK - LATER
Some PEOPLE are fishing by the promenade. OTHERS engage in their leisurely activities.
PETER: (V.O.): How pleasant it is to enjoy life like that!
FLASHBACK
INT. COURT ROOM - DAY (YESTERDAY)
No window. PEOPLE with no smile. Case numbers called. Peter prosecutes. People appear. Charges read. Pleading guilty. Story told and agreed. Convicted as charged. Records disclosed. Anything to say. Court passes sentence.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They've breached the law and have to be punished in some ways. Peace and order have to be maintained.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's life too, though the unpleasant side of it.
Peter sees an old boat crossing the harbour.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, I've ridden on that nostalgic boat before. It was last October...
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I took the ferry from Kwun Tong to Sai Wan Ho, and then a bus to Stanley Market. I wanted to buy some souvenirs for my Canadian friend.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, a year has passed.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - DAY
Peter checks his phone notifications.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, someone has upvoted one of my answers. Let me view my answer again.
We see on screen: "What's the most sought after answer in the world?" "It's the answer as to "Why the entity called "I" exists in this point in spacetime?"
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's a question that I couldn't answer. I believe no one can answer that.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't know why I'd know my "I" ie identity. In spacetime, why am I existing now, not earlier and not later.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Perhaps, the question and answer are sought after by a few souls only.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Life goes on even without understanding the reason behind staying alive.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There're some beautiful people and things, if we've the time and the sensibility to appreciate them.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, just enjoy while we can.
FADE OUT.
THE END
