Kaji: Hobbies & Habits

FADE IN.

Act 1

INT. SITTING ROOM - MORNING

Seeing Peter coming home with bags of food in hand, KAJI jumps up on him to sniff, dancing with his hind legs.

INT. DINNING ROOM - LATER

As Peter pulls out a dining chair, Kaji jumps onto it and sits.

KAJI (V.O.): I love to eat. It tops all of my hobbies.

Peter passes some bread to Kaji.

Beat.

PETER: Last one. Finished. No more.

KAJI (V.O.): Okay, I can see there's nothing left on the table.

Finishing it, Kaji leaves her seat carefully.

Act 2

INT. SITTING ROOM - LATER

Retiring to her sofa, Kaji prepares to sleep.

KAJI (V.O.): Sleeping is probably my subconscious habit, rather than my conscious hobby.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): I can't help falling asleep most of the time.

Kaji sleeps.

Beat.

Refreshed, Kaji wakes up. She sees Peter sitting on the sofa.

KAJI (V.O.): I love to jump on the sofa. Chasing is definitely my hobby though.

MONTAGE

A. The MAID and Kaji chase with each other in the living area and Kaji turns around at the sofa.

B. The PACK LEADER and Kaji chase each other happily.

C. Kaji then goes to the toilet.

END MONTAGE

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Chasing before going to the toilet is probably my habit and not my hobby.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): Perhaps, it's time to play a game with Peter.

Getting out of her sofa, Kaji picks a tennis ball from her toy box and passes it to Peter. As Peter throws the ball in the air, Kaji fetches it.

PETER: Well done!

KAJI (V.O.): It's mine!

They repeat the fetch game several times.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): Playing something is my hobby too. Bur I feel bored after awhile.

Kaji sees Peter taking a photo of her.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): His hobby is to capture images. I prefer real connection.

INT. DINING ROOM - LATER

Peter is sharing a banana with Kaji.

KAJI (V.O.): I like fresh treats from Peter. That's my another eating-related hobby.

Enters the pack leader.

PACK LEADER: Eating again?

Grabbing Kaji from behind, the pack leader carries her away.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): Oh, don't be so cruel! You know having treats is my favourite hobby too.

Act 3

INT. SITTING ROOM - AFTERNOON

Kaji rests on the floor.

KAJI (V.O.): My other hobbies are walking in the streets and going to the pet garden - places to explore, smells to sniff and friends to meet.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): But I need the help of the pack leader and the gang.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): Going to the hairdresser is neither my hobby nor my habit. It's rather the hobby of the pack leader and the gang.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): The only hobby I can do on my own is to kiss Peter.

Reflecting.

KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): Liking humans is my habit, but loving him is my hobby.

FADE OUT.
