Kaji: The Tempting Moment

Act 1

INT. DINING ROOM - 8:30 am

Sitting at the dinning table next to PETER, KAJI focuses on the sandwich he is eating.

KAJI (V.O.): Let me have a bite or two...

Peter takes her wish as his command.

INT. SITTING ROOM - 10 am

At a corner, a MAID puts food on Kaji's meal bowl.

KAJI (V.O.): I've well-timed and robust brunch every day, preparing for a possible hectic afternoon.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): If we go to the pet garden, I don't mind hunting afterwards.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): But that doesn't happen as often as I'd wish.

Act 2

INT. SITTING ROOM - 10.30am

Kaji sees the PACK LEADER and Peter going out together.

KAJI (V.O.): Ah, they do their occasional hunting.

Kaji stares at them.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Would they say "Kai Kai", allowing me to join them?

While Kaji continues to wait for cues, they turn their backs on her.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh no, I've to stay home to guard our den.

As they disappear behind the closing door, Kaji stays put.

Beat.

As they re-appear from behind the opening door, Kaji welcomes them, sniffing the bags they're carrying.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): They've had a good hunt. I feel upbeat.

INT. DINING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

As food is put on the table, Peter takes his seat. Kaji jumps up to join Peter, squeezing herself behind Peter's back.

PACK LEADER: Take the vacant seat next to me!

KAJI (V.O.): Yes, she who must be obeyed.

Kaji takes her seat swiftly as if she's hunting.

PETER: Good girl!

Peter then pushes a snack from his side of the table towards Kaji.

PETER (Cont'd): Okay.

KAJI (V.O.): Peter says okay. Should I take it. It's very tempting.

Hesitating.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): But the pack leader is silent. Am I being tested if I'd do the wrong thing at the temping moment.

Thinking.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I shouldn't act rashly. I've to resist the temptation.

Staring at the snack, Kaji doesn't make any move.

ACT 3

INT. DINING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Observing Kaji's inaction, the Pack Leader smiles.

PETER: Okay la!

PACK LEADER: OK!

KAJI (V.O.): Yes, that's the clear endorsement.

Kaji grabs her snack.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Hunting at the table has to be done wisely too.

Kaji looks smart.
