Kaji: Under My Shadow

Act 1

EXT. STREETS - AFTERNOON

One side is brightly lit under the sun.

KAJI (V.O.): It's a hot afternoon.

KAJI is leading the PACK LEADER and PETER on the other side which is in shadow.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Taking a different route, it's hard for me to retrace my steps to the Pet Garden.

They arrive at a junction.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Left or right?

Kaji takes the left turn.

PACK LEADER: That's not right.

Act 2

EXT. PET GARDEN - LATER

Kaji is on her own, choosing her favourite spot.

KAJI (V.O.): Here's the spot where I can feel some magnetic force.

After obeying the call of nature, Kaji looks relieved. It's the pack leader's turn to pick up what she has left behind.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Am I enslaving the pack leader?

Kaji walks around leisurely.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Unlike home, there's no air-conditioning here.

Holding a dog water bottle, the pack leader passes it Kaji.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, I'm thirsty.

Having taken her drink, Kaji's FRIENDS want to engage her.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): No, I'm not in the mood. Go away little boys!

Avoiding the boys, Kaji jumps up to a bench to sit next to the boys' MASTERS. They're taken by surprise.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's nothing special. I've a powerful bond with humans.

FLASHBACK

INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT

In Kaji's company, the pack leader and the GANG are skyping.

KAJI (V.O.): Yes, I can see someone with no scent on the screen.

Then, the Gang put Kaji and her meal bowl filled with food on the table.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): High up here, I'm fully exposed. But for the food, I wouldn't compromise myself.

RETURN TO PRESENT

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Sitting on this bench, I feel higher and more in control, although I'm still living under the shadow of the pack leader and possibly the boys' masters.

ACT 3

EXT. STREETS - LATER

They wait outside a store as the pack leader buys some drinks.

KAJI (V.O.): With air-conditioning, here's much better than the pet garden.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Have I changed my mindset?

Kaji walks under the sun, casting a shadow.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Are they actually living under my shadow?

FADE OUT.
