Act 1
INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT
PETER and his WIFE are having dinner.
PETER: I can still drive you to work tomorrow, but not for the rest of the week days as I've other engagements.
WIFE: But typhoon signal #8 might be up tomorrow morning.
Peter passes his phone to his wife to read.
PETER: The typhoon is heading towards Hainan.
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
PETER (V.O.): The Duty Lawyer Service has fixed something for me on Friday. And I'll have do volunteering work for HKUST coming Wednesday and Thursday.
Peter works diligently on his computer.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've to prepare and submit lecture notes next week. And it was only yesterday that I submitted an article to be published by the HKIAC.
Peter types and types: Communication and Informational Technology Law, Tort Law in Workplace, Criminal Law, Intellectual Property Protection and Data Protection (Privacy) Ordinance.
Act 2
INT. SLEEPING ROOM - DAY
Waking up, Peter taps the MyObservatory App on his phone screen.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, typhoon signal #8 is up. What a surprise!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Okay, my wife can sleep a little longer, and I don't have to drive her to work.
INT. STUDY- DAY
Peter works behind his desktop computer.
PETER (V.O.): I had better refresh my memory about an appeal case that will be heard early next month. I filed the grounds of appeal on behalf of a client two years ago.
Peter types.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The better option is to start drafting the skeleton arguments.
Reading the texts on the computer screen, Peter types from time to time.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I remember the particulars of the case now. I need to research more while developing my legal arguments.
Peter immerses himself in the texts on the screens of his computer and his iPhone. Later, he checks a clock.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, I've focused on my work for full three hours already. It's taxing. I need a break.
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
Peter sees his wife working hard on his computer.
PETER (V.O.): A lawyer's job is never done.
After watching TV for a short while, Peter leaves.
INT. STUDY - DAY
Peter resumes working on his computer.
PETER (V.O.): I had better carry on with my work.
After working for some time, Peter checks the time again.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, it's already after two. I'd have something.
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
Peter sees his wife falling asleep on the sofa.
PETER (V.O.): She works so hard even on a day that she doesn't have to go to work.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Me too.
Act 3
INT. RESTAURANT - DAY
Enjoying their meals, Peter's younger SON poses a question.
SON: What's the difference between Hong Kong law and English law?
Peter explains.
PETER (V.O.): Before he took up medicine, he said he didn't have any interest in law. What a change!
They continue their chats.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): People are born different. If one has the qualities and potential, one should optimize them.
Chatting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But professionals lead hard lives, working taxing hours.
They leave in the rain.
INT. STUDY - DAY
Having stopped typing on his computer, Peter looks out of the window.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The swimming pools won't be open today. I'll run in the park instead. The weather isn't that bad.
INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT
The FAMILY are having dinner.
PETER (V.O.): On a typhoon day, the only difference is that we can eat before 9.00 pm.
